Bluffton College Beavers will open an 18-game basketball schedule Mon day night of next week against To ledo University’s high-powered Rock ets in a game at the Toledo field house. Included on the schedule are home and-Kome bookings with other mem bers of the Mid-Ohio league in the loop’s first season of cage play. Other league members are Findlay, Defiance, Ashland and Cedarville. After tangling with Toledo in the season-opener, the Reavers will meet Bowling Green at that place on De cember 5, and will meet Findlay here in the first home game on De cember 7. All home games zwill be played in the Bluffton High school gymnasium this winter. Here, There, and Everywhere Capt. and Mrs. Peter Smith, Jr., returned this week to their home in Battle Creek, Mich., after visiting her mother, Mrs. Evelyn Porter in Columbus Grove. Lewis Basinger of Col. Grove is improving following a recent major operation. Richard Gousha, superintendent of the Blanchard district school at Gil boa attended an educational confer ence at Lima South high sch^l last week. Roily Henry of Leipsic is a pa tient in Ford hospital, Detroit, where he underwent a third operation. His condition is reported satsfactory. Miss Leila Townsend of Leipsic is in Lima Memoral hospital taking treatment for a hip injury. Pvt. Jack E. Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Parker of Colum bus Grove stationed with the U. S. Army in Japan, recently took part in an anniversary celebration at Camp Sakai. Mrs. Olive Logan of Botkins is visiting at the home of her sisters Mrs. Orpha Day and Mrs. Chas. Reeder in Col. Grove. Mr. Reeder who has been ill for several months remains in about the same condition. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Eastman of Col. Grove visited Sunday in the home of her brother, Walter Bau?» in Continental. Mr. Bauer who has been quite ill was later removed to Maumee Valley hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dray and son James, and Thos. Dray of Bluff ton spent Sunday with their sister, Mrs. Musselman in Marion. Stevenson Fretz, Gilboa resident was honored with a surprise party recently on the occasion of his 81st birthday. Mrs. Fred Fridling, Col. Grovt resident, who has been a patient in Lima Memorial hospital has been re moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Weston in Col. Grove. Mrs. Wm. Hunt and son have been removed from Lima Memorial hospital to their home west of Co lumbus Grove. Mrs. Lora Stevens, 71, of Gilboa, escaped with minor injuries when the car in which she was riding was struck by a New York Central freight train at Findlay, Sunday afternoon. Leroy Fett, patient in Lima St. Rita’s hospital has been removed to his home near Col. Grove. Mrs. Wm. Miss Shirley Bogart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bogart of Col. Grove has been elected to member ship in Links, an honorary society for women at Ohio State university. She is a sophomore in the school of nursing and is also disted on the nurses’ honor roll. Beaverdam City Cagers Win, 59-58 Beaverdam Independent basketball team opened its home season last Thursday by edging Oklahoma In dians, 59 to 58, in an overtime tilt. Composed of former Beaverdam High school stars, the winners were paced by Lou Fett who had 12 field ers and two free throws for a 26 point total. Foulkes had 14 points for the victors and D.
