S. at Delphos St. John’s Thursday, Dec. 15 College at Ashland Bluffton college’s tilt with Findlay’s Oilers here this Wednesday will be the first home start of the season for the Beavers. In their two opening games the Beavers were hopelessly out of their class in contests with Toledo and Bowling Green big-time fives, but they also will face a high-scoring outfit in Findlay's strong Oilers. Last week the Findlay team ran up 115 points on Giffin college, of Van Wert, to establish a new school record and give some indication of the strength of this season’s Oiler outfit. The Bluffton-Findlay contest will be the season opener for each in the new Mid-Ohio league. In addition to the Findlay game, the Beaver five will journey to Wil berforce next Monday, and meet Ash land at that place Thursday of next week. Bluffton High eagers will meet two strong foes in their games during the coming week, including the con test at Delphos St. John’s with last year’s Ohio Class champions. So far, the St. John’s outfit is undefeated. The tilt here Friday night with Wapakoneta will be the opening Western Buckeye league game of the season for both crews. So far the only common opponent the two teams have played is Ada, which last Fri day dropped Wapakoneta by a score of 47 to 34. Rites For Frank B. Reiter At Mt. Cory Funeral services were held last Saturday in the Mt. Cory Methodist church for Frank B. Reiter, 77, re tired Mt. Cory rural mail carrier, who died of uremic poisoning the preceding Wednesday morning. A son of Henry and Eliza Reiter, hf was born August 27, 1872, in Puptnam county, and came to Mt. Cory at the age of 19 months. He served as Mt. Cory rural mail car rier for nearly 36 years before his retirement. Survivors include two sons, Clair D. Reiter and Bliss Ara Reiter, both of Mt. Cory, and nine grandchildren. Mr. Reiter was a Spanish-Amer ican war veteran and was a member of Maccabee Tent No. 340. Rev. A. Seth Lenhart officiated at the funeral rites. Four Are Injured In Headon Auto Mishap Two persons are patients in Lima Memorial hospital and two others received treatment for injuries re ceived in a headon collision on the Dixie highway, one-half mile south of Beaverdam early last Thursday night. In the hospital are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Neely, of Lima. The other two released after emergency treat ment were Everett Thompson and John Miller, also both of Lima. According to state highway patrol men, Miller was traveling north an4 was attempting to pass another car when his auto collided with the southbound Neely vehicle. Miller was cited to appear in court for failing to yield the right-of-way. Rockport Mr. and Mrs. Dale Westenbarger, of near Vaughnsville, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mayberry and daughter Joan. Mr. Louis Risser, Miss Lena Risser and Mrs. Aaron Hilty, of Pandora, spent Monday evening of last week with Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Marshall and their guest, Mrs. Helen B. Risser, of Long Beach, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Begg and Mrs. W. E. Marshall were in Findlay last Tuesday evening for the O. E. S. installation of officers of Findlay Chapter. Mrs. I rene Cupp returned home I Sunday, after spending the week with her daughter, Mrs. Roscoe Alderman and family near Warren. Mrs. Helen Risser and Mrs. Orlo Marshall attended a luncheon in the home of Mrs. A. F. Basinger, in Lima, Saturday, in honor of Mrs. Risser an old time friend of the group. Others present were: Mrs. Earl Rohn, Mrs. E. L. Steere and Mrs. William Metzger, all of Lima. The Woman’s Society of Christian Service will meet in the home of Mrs. Mary Dunlap, Thursday of next week, for a covered dish dinner and the December program. The theme is: “Christmas in Our Schools Around the World,” with Miss Vinnie Meeks giving the devotional service. The program leader is Mrs. Naomi La Rue, with a special feature by Mrs. Luella Van Atta. A gift ex change will follow the program. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Marshall be came proud grandparents again when Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall wel comed a baby boy at Bluffton Com munity Hospital Saturday morning. Mrs. Guy Mayberry will be hostess to members of the Presbyterian Mis sionary society Wednesday afternoon of next week. Mrs. J. 0*. Cupp will conduct the devotional service which will be followed by the singing of Christmas Carols. The topic, “Foundations of Faith” will be given by Mrs. F. C. Marshall. Officers for the coming year will bo installed by the Rev. Leonard McIntire. Year Book of Prayer by Mrs. William Cupp will close the program. Mr. A. D. Wells of Lima spent the week end in the home of his son Nelson Wells and family. The annual Christmas program will be presented at the Presbyterian Church, Thursday evening, Dec. 22. Mrs. Helen Risser, of Long Beach, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Marshall, of this place Mrs. William Risser, of Bluffton and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Risser, Jr., of Pandora, were Thurs day evening dinner guests of Mr. and 1 Mrs. Louis Risser, Sr., and Miss Lena Risser at their country home near Pandora. Mrs. Osa Reams and Mrs. Dana Everett were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Alice Bodell. The Rural Neighbor’s Advisory Council will meet in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyce Kidd, Thursday evening for a covered dish supper for members and their families.
