Beaverdam School Area Transfer Out Formal objection by resolution has been received by the Allen county board of education on a petition to transfer territory from the Beaver dam to the Columbus Grove school district. Petitioners for the transfer were Virgil Maag and Ruth Ann Maag. The board resolution stated no sound reason had been given by the peti tioners for the transfer. Grace Geary Resigns From Cory-Rawson Mrs. Geary has taught classes has resigned as home economics in structor for the Mt. Cory-Rawson school system, effective with the close of the current school term. Mrs. Geory has taught classes from the combined school district in the Mt. Cory building. She has been a teacher in the system for three years. Basinger’s Furniture Store Forty-seven Years of Dependable Service Agriculture Class Hear Patrolman Certain pieces of farm machinery and other heavy equipment require a permit if they are to be moved sev eral miles over public roads or from one farm to another according to Patrolman M. T. Hedleston of the State Highway Patrol office in Lima. Speaking before the Bluffton Vet erans’ Agriculture Class in the high school Monday night, Patrolman Hedleston stateci that equipment over 12 ft. 6 inches high, eight feet wide or sixty feet in length will re quire a permit to move on highways I if that move is for hire. Permits for moving farm equipment of the size mentioned are issued for ninety days and may be renewed for six I months. They may be obtained at the nearest patrol office. The class also saw a film on high way safety. Highway regulations af ifecting farm operators were discussed along with measures to be taken in the event of accident or mishap. Twenty local veterans were present at the meeting. Hospital Auxiliary Bake Sale Saturday Donations are needed for a bake sale for the benefit of the Bluffton Community hospital, which will be held from 8 a. m. until 3 p. m. next Saturday in rooms formerly occupied by Dr. M. D. Soash in the Charles Hankish building. Contributions requested for the sale include all kinds of baked goods, Easter eggs, dressed chicken, chicken and noodles, cottage cheese and other articles. Gifts of money also will be ac cepted, it was announced. Elmer Stonehill At College Conference Elmer Stonehill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stonehill, of South Main street, represented Bowling Green university at the fourth pub lic affairs conference held on the Ohio State university campus last week. Methodist Youth To Stage Play A one act play, “Simon of Cy rene” will be presented to the public Friday evening at 7:30 by the Youth Fellowship of the Methodist church as a part of a special Good Friday service there. The cast in cludes Lynn Carmack in the title role as well as Sue Conaway, Paul Cramer, Rex Aukerman, Barbara Shumaker and Burdette Au^sburger. The play is under the direction of Mrs. Robert Stratton. Presentation of the medal awarded to Smucker was made by Dr. Theo dore Koerner, mayor of Vienna, at special ceremonies in the Austrian capital. ^g^jjyse Smucker was busy with Carr duties in Norway, the medal was received for him by Major Co lumbia P. Murray, Jr., chief of the CARE mission in Austria, who was similarly honored. Dr. Smith Subject Of Magazine Articles Life of Dr. C. Henry Smith as an educator and business man is cov ered in two articles devoted to the late Bluffton College professor and Bluff ton.Jxaiik president appearing in the April issue of Mennonite Life. Dr. Smith’s experiences in the field of higher education are dis cussed in an article by Dean N. E. On the grand jury venire are Alf red Miller and Harley E. Augsburg er, both of Bluffton, and Harry Yant of Beaverdam. The list of prospective jurors in cludes Millard Herr, Fred Martin and Wilford Gratz, all of Bluffton Carl Barnum, Beaverdam and Fred Conkle and Bernard Miller, both of Lafayette.
