BLUFFTON NEWS, BLUFFTON, OHIO fireworks Warning Is Early This Year The campaign against the illegal sale and distribution of fireworks to the public is off to an early start this year. State fire marshal Harry J. Callan has issued a warning to those contemplating the sale of fire works in spite of the fact that the Fourth of July holiday is still over two months away. Merchants and dealers who are contemplating the sale of any type of fireworks except those sanctioned by law are being warned before hand that they will be breaking state law by selling these products to the general public. Sparklers, fountains, sky-rockets, snakes-in-the-grass and other de vices providing a “visible effect” are fireworks under the Ohio law ac cording to Mr. Callan in citing an attorney general’s opinion. Early warning on the sale of fire works was prompted by the fact that advance billings on such pro ducts are now being made by manu facturers. According to the state law, fireworks are permitted only in connection with carnivals, fairs and other celebrations for which written permission has been obtained from the proper authorities.
