W. Berky, is one of 14 young men and women from the East and Midwest who last week began a ten-week summer program in a unique project in New York’s East Harlem slums. Miss Berky just graduated from Bluffton college, where her father is a member of the faculty. From now until September she and the others will live and work in the inter-racial, interdenomina tional East Harlem Protestant Par ish. They will teach vacation school in the Parish’s storefront churches, lead recreation and craft groups and accompany youngsters to summer camps. Each will be a foster moth er or father to a group of a dozen children or teen-agers, most of them from overcrowded tenement homes or broken families. Officiating was Rev. L. W. McIntire of the Bluffton Presbyterian of which she was a member. at hei after Mrs. Murray died suddenly home in Findlay, Saturday noon following a three weeks’ ill ness. She had been a patient in Findlay hospital and believed to be improving, was removed to her home. Physician Dies Has Native Of Pandora Dr. Calvin Steiner, 60,* native of the Pandora district, died Friday at Willard where for many years he had been a practicing physician. He was a son of the late U..S. Steiner. His widow survives. Funeral services were held in il lard, Monday afternoon followed by burial at that place. Among those attending the fun eral services were Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Amstutz, Ada, and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Bucher, Columbus Grove. Family Gathering Family of the late Samuel Hilty enjoyed a basket dinner, Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Bucher of Columbus Grove. There were 75 present. The wedding took place in the LaRue Methodist church with Rev. Leland Wiley officiating. A pro gram of organ music preceded the ceremony. The bride was attired in a pea cock blue silk shantung with orchid corsage. Her attendant, Mrs. Chas. Arnold of Toledo wore a-gown of toast shantung with rose corsage. Mr. Arnold was best man. Following the ceremony the couple left on a motor trip through the Smoky Mountain region. Wedding Solemnized At Church Of Christ Miss Sara Bracy, daughter of Mr.I and Mrs. Homer Bracy of Bluffton I and George McCune, Bluffton, son of I Mr. and Mrs. Burdette McCune of San Francisco were married in the Church of Christ here June 25. Attendants were Miss Eilene Mathewson and Weldon Deppler. After a short wedding trip the couple will reside at 216 N. Lawn Ave. The bride is a Bluffton high school graduate, attended Northwestern School of Commerce, Lima and is now employed at Westinghouse Electric Corp., in that city. Mr. McCune attended high school at McFadden, Wyoming and served two years in the Navy. He is now employed by the Emmert Plumbing & Heating Co., of this place. Carroll Tschiegg Weds At Warren Carroll E. Tschiegg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Tschiegg of Bluff ton and Miss Wanda Mermer, daughter 6f Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mermer of Warren, were married Saturday afternoon, June 24 in the First Presbyterian church at 2:30 o’clock, with the pastor of the church officiating. Following the wedding the couple left on a trip through the southern states after which they will be at home in Silver Springs, Maryland. Mr. Tschiegg is employed by the Bureau of Standards in Washing ton and his wife will teach in the public schools. Dr. Foust Is Wed In Lima Dr. Fred Foust, former Bluffton resident now living near Beaverdam and Mrs. Laura Easton of Hunts ville were married Saturday morn ing at 10 o’clock in the Market Street Presbyterian church, Lima. Rev. Arthur Romig, pastor of the church officiated at the ceremony which was witnessed by Mrs. Betty Gates of Findlay and Paul Foust, son of Dr. Foust. After an eastern trip the couple will reside at his farm on the Dixie highway south of Beaverdam. The bride is a former teacher in the Lima and Huntsville schools. Dr. Foust a former Bluffton veterin- arian later took up dentistry and practiced in Lima. He is now re tired. FACTS FOR FARMERS...
