They left Saturday and will return Mon day. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Charles Buhrer and Roger were hosts to a potluck dinner as a fare well to Mr. and Mrs. Forest Bower and family who moved to Hillsboro on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Walden Hilty and family of Chatham, New Jersey who are spending their vacation visiting their parents in Pandora were among the guests at the Eicher-Schutz wed ding in Berne, Ind. Saturday even ing. They will return to New Jersey in two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Yoder and son from Souderton, Pa. were guests of the Rev. Bohn family. Mr. Yoder discussed the Sunday School lesson in the Grace Mennonite church. The Yoders live at “Welcome House” which was founded by Pearl S. Buck, the famous author, for child ren that cannot be placed in homes. There are seven children in this home at the present time ranging from tiny babies to 15 years. These children are of part white and part Indian, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean ancestry and so neither nationality wants them. While the Yoders took their vacation their married daughter took care of these children. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Neuensch wander of Cleveland spent the week end at the Chris Locher home. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall spent last Thursday in Columbus on business. Sunday the fraternity brothers of Kenneth Marshall who live in this section of the state had a reunion at the Herbert Marshall farm near Kenton. The E. J. Bohn family will leave for their vacation the first part of next week. They will attend a re union in Indiana on Sunday and from there they will go to St. Peter, Minnesota where the Ministers Re treat of the General Conference will be held. From there they will go to the Conference in Freeman, South Dakota, and also to the Black Hills. Over a hundred people wished the D. A. Steiners well on their 50th anniversary open house. The prizes that are to be given at the Fall Festival are displayed in the window of the Pandora Hard ware Cd. Rev. and Mrs. Warren Powell and daughter Debbie and Miss Loraine Tarbox left for Waterville, New York Monday morning for their vacation. Miss Tarbox will stay there as she spent the past month at her sister’s home here. The Boy Scouts of Troop 26 will leave for Camp Berry near Findlay Sunday afternoon. The Merry Maids of the Grace Mennonite church had their annual picnic Sunday afternoon at the home of Sarah Bixler. Several guests were present. Adolph Schifferly Dies In Cincinnati Adolph Sch'ifferly, 76, formerly of Bluffton, died at his home cinnati, July 26 following a failing health. in Cin year of Bluffton Samuel He was a native of the area, the son of the late and Mary (Stauffer) Schifferly. He was married to Dinah Welty in 1897 who died two years later. A daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hugus of Rawson survives, together with five grandchildren and two great grand children. Later he was married to Nellie Green, who survives together with three brothers, Bert of Cincinnati, and Eli and Henry of Bluffton. Surviving sisters are Mrs. Will Lewis Niswander, Col. Grove Mrs. John Keiffer, Beaverdam, and Mrs. Lydia Lora of Bluffton. Fostoria Drops Admissions Tax Fostoria City Council has repealed the city’sc^3 per cent amusement ad missions tax. The tax had been in effect since Sept. 30, 1947, when the state drop ped that field of taxation. The admissions tax had netted the city treasury almost $16,000 in the 3-year period. City officials said the action was taken at the request of theater own ers, who complained of a decrease in revenues.
