Meeting the three opponents in a five-day span, the Bluffton pace will be stepped up considerably over that of the first three weeks in which they matched strength with only two teams. Edgerton, coached by Russ Gratz, former Bluffton high and Bluffton college cage star, is un defeated, and has set an enviable pace as one of Northwestern Ohio’s top point-getting teams so far this season. Delphos St. John’s, state cham pions two years ago, perennially is one of the best in this district. In all-time competition with the Jays, Bluffton has been shaded four times, while winning only two. This means Delphos is one of the few teams in the district which has an edge over the Pirates in cage competition. Last year the Jays twice beat Bluff ton, by scores of 52 to 36 and 64 to 44. Wapakoneta, Friday night’s foe, has bested Bluffton 10 times in 19 encounters, giving Bluffton a none game edge in the series. The last Wapak victory was in 1948, and the Pirates won easily in the next two years. Cory-Rawson Five Takes League Lead With three straight victories to their credit in the Hancock county “Little Eight” league, Howard Trost miller’s Cory-Rawson basketball team holds undisputed possession of first place in the loop race. In hopping out in front in the loop competition, the Cory-Rawson team dumped Arcadia, 48 to 41, last Friday night on the Arcadia court. Although Arcadia led at half time, 26 to 22, Cory-Rawson uncork ed a last-half spurt which ultimately led to victory. The Hornets led at the third quarter, 35 to 30. Six-foot-five Mac McDowell, of Cory-Rawson, was high point man of the evening, with a total of 19 points, and also sparkled on the de fense for the victory.
