BLUFFTON, OHIO Kansas Team Tops Bluffton Beavers college of North Newton, defeated Bluffton college 65 to 60 in a basketball the high school gymnasium Bethel Kansas, Beavers game on floor here Tuesday night, the first intercollegiate sport meet ing between teams of the two Men nonite schools. It was A former Bluffton youth, Lanoy Loganbill, six-foot-three center for the Kansas crew topped the scoring with 25 points from 10 field goals and five free throws. The Bluffton collegians, racking up 24 points in the second quarter fin ished out in front at halftime by a scare of 37 to 21, but the visitors came back strong in the third per iod with 23 counters and 11 in the final quarter to gain the five-point margin of victory. Individual scoring honors for Bluffton were shared by forward Don Schmidt and Terry Lakes, a newcomer in the lineup at 16 points each. Bethel scored 27 field goals and Bluffton 21. Robert Coon Married In Findlay, Saturday Robert Coon, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Coon of South Jackson street and Miss Betty Jane Povenmire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Povenmire of Findlay were married Saturday in Findlay at the home of the officiating minister Rev. Harry McFadden, pastor of the Church of Christ at that place. The bride has been employed at a Findlay department store and the bridegroom is a senior at Ohio Northern university. The couple are making their home with the groom’s parents for the present. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Hummon are in Baltimore, Md., where Mr. Hummon submitted to a heart opera tion at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Fri day. He is reported to be getting along satisfactorily. Mrs. O. D. Rickly and son Bill of Columbus spent Tuesday in the Rickly-Reichenbach home. Bill, who has been stationed at Tyndall, Fla., is spending a three week’s furlough with his parents. He will then go to the Air Base in New Jersey. Rev. and Mrs. Walter Purdy have announced the approaching marriage of their daughter Barbara to Max Nonnamaker of Jenera. The wedding will take place in the Rawson Metho dist church, December 31 at 3:30 o’clock. Mrs. O. D. Rickly and son Bill of Columbus were dinner guests in the home of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harris of Bluffton, Wednesday. The children of the Pleasant View church will render a Christmas pro gram, Friday evening at 8 o’clock. A rehearsal will be held Thursday evening when the children will be picked up by members of the com mittee.
