TROOPS "I am proud to have command of such troops," is the glowing tribute contained in an army order issued by Gen. do Qouettc, refer ring to the Americans who form a part of the French army that wrested Bclleau wood (since re named Marine Corps wood) and ,vaux, from the Germans. "In twenty days of incessant fighting," Gen. dc Gouettc's order reads, ' they advanced moro than twenty-five miles. "Such names as Torey, Scrgy, Scringes and the Vcslo will cast a glorious luster on the military his tory of the United States. The youthful division, in their baptism of fire, conducted themselves in a manner worthy of their warlike traditions, and, like regulars, dis playing the greatest eagerness to smash the bodies." ORDER CAME SAT LAST "Waiting for a call to the colors was atiresome task for Carlton Mnkbeiner, who enlisted last May while he was a student in the U. of M., but the order finally came and Carlton left on Snuday for Municipal Pier, Chicago, to answer Ills call in the Naval Auxiliary Re serve. Carleton was under 19 years of ago when ho enlisted and his example might be followed by many others who would thus prove their worthiness of being called American citizens.
