Joiner To Preach Dedicatory Sermon On Sunday April 28th, the Mt. Pleasant M. B. Church of Beu ah pastored by Rev. F. T. Griffin, will hold theii Dedicatory Services. The church was completed recently, and the pastor is inviting all the churches in and around the com munity to take a part in the services The Dedication sermon will be preached by Rev J. L Joiner of Mound Bayou, Missifsippi. This is to be one cf the largest services of its kind in the hist ry of the church. Drama Staged By Alcorn Group Is Real Treat Those of us who braved the rain and chilly winds to see The “At torney for the Defense” were well paid for our trouble. The young people from Alcorn certainly put on a real drama. Mrs. Lawson and Mr. James had thoroughly trained their stars; and between the acts our boys scored high with their Swing Bands. Mr. and Mrs. Jones of Clarksdale who are the parents of Mr. Robert Jones, who played the title role, motored to Mound Bayou to witness the plav. Quite a number of Mound Bayou social ites attended the performance. The Alcornites were entertained at Ouida’s Grill after the performance. Thursday night’s pleasures will live in our memories a long time. Mrs. Hattie Powell had a severe sick attack early Monday morning. Her relatives and friends are ex periencing keen anxiety over her condition. Her children from Chicago are expected to arrive here this week. Mrs. Ida Darling returned home from Chicago ‘Monday where she has been for the past three weeks in attendance at the sick bed and funeral services of her mother. Consoling frien Is thrcnged Mrs. Darling’s house Monday after noon, when sleep came down to soothe her weary eyes they left her smiling pleasantly. • Mrs. Ella Gordon returned home Saturday much improved after having suffered a second severe attack of sickness v hile out on her farm five miles east of Mound Bayou. i - | if~ I Mrs. IV issouri Connoway, of Banks and Francis addition, suf fered a slight stroke of paralyses last Saturday. She is improving nicely at this tkne.
