ORDINANCE NUMBER TWELVE RESOLUTION NO. 1 Whereas, It satisfactorily appears to tho Common Council of tho Town of Globo that said town has acquired a population of three thousand, and that there aro now over three thousand in habitants within the boundaries of tho said town; and Whereas, Tho inhabitants thorcof de sire to assumo a city organization and it is deemed to tho best interests of the town that tho inhabitants thereof as sumo a city organization; Now, Therefore, Ho It Resolved, That we, tho Common Council of tho said Town of Globo, in consideration of the premises and pursuant to the provisions of Paragraph 597, Chapter 9 of Title 11 of the Revised Statutes of tho Territory of Arizona, do unanimously vote in favor of, and do hereby "assume and adopt a city organization under the name of tho City of Globe. Bo it ordained by tho Mayor nnd Common Council of the City of Globo: SECTION I. An nnnunl street tax of Two Dollars is horoby levied on each and every male inlinbitnnt over twenty-ono years of age and under fifty years of ago residing' within tho corporate limits of tho City of Globe for tho year commencing .Inn- uary 1, 1907, and each year thorcaftor. SECTION II. Said Street Tax shall bo payablo to tho Supervisor of Streots of said City on demand. Whenever said tax has boon paid tho Supervisor of Streots shall deliver to the person thereto on titled, tho proper receipt signed by tho City Clerk of said City and countersign ed by himself." All moneys collected by tho Supervisor of Streets under this or dinance shall be paid by him to the City Treasurer and shall be kept in a separate fund to be known and desig nated as tho street fund and shall bo used for tho improvement "of streets and sidowalks only. SECTION III. Any person, firm or corporation hav ing in his or their employ any porson liable to pay the street tax as provided in Section 1, shall, on demand being made by tho Supervisor of Streots, fur nish such Supervisor of Streets with an accurate list of tho names of all such porsons liablo to payment of said street tax, and in case of any such persons liablo to payment of said street tax shall make default therein, as herein after provided, the person, firm or cor poration so employing such person mak ing such default, shall, on demand from tho Supervisor of Streets, pay such Supervisor of Streets the amount so due for saidstrcot tax, and take a receipt therefor, which receipt shall constitute nnd become a good and sufficient set-off and payment for tho amount therein named of any clnim which said delin quent may have against such person, firm or corporation bo taking such re ceipt and may bo deducted in any sub scqent settlement with said person, by any porson, firm or corporation holding said receipt. SECTION IV. Any person who shall fail upon de mand of tho Supervisor of Streets to pay said tax as aforesaid, shall bo pun ished by a fino of not less than five nor more than twenty-five dollars and stand committed to tho calaboose of the city until payment of such fine, not exceed ing thirty days, or by confinement at hard labor upon tho streets or public works of the city for a period of not less than five nor moro than thirty davs. SECTION V. This ordinance shall not apply to any active member of any volunteer firo department within the City of Globe; provided tho evidence of tho organiza tion of tho fire department and of the good standing of tho member as re quired by law shall bo filed with the City Clerk for each year. ORDINANCE NUMBER FOURTEEN An Ordinanco Regulating Sidewalks. Bo it ordained by tho Mayor and Common Council of tho City of Globo: SECTION I. That it shall bo unlawful for any ono to repair or construct any sidewalk in tho City of Globe, without permission from tho Supervisor of Streets, and no new sidewalks shall ho constructed un til tho streot shall bo surveyed and tho width and grade of such sidewalk shall bo determined, mid when determined the sidewalks may bo built according to the plans and specifications furnished by tho City Engineer. SECTION TT. Tho Mayor of the City of Globo may employ from timo to time, with the approval of the Common Council, a competent civil engineer to mnko such surveys, plans and estimates as shall bo necessary for tho purposes of the City in tho establishuumt of street and side walk grades and improvements, and to do such other necessary and proper ser vices us may from time to timo bo required of him by tho Common Coun cil. ' SECTION III. Any person violating the provisions of Section 1 aforesaid shall bo deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con viction thereof shall bo fined not less than fivo nor moro than one hundred dollars. NELMS, (Seal) Secretary pro tempore, ORDINANCE NUMBER THIRTEEN An Ordinance Regulating Prostitution. Bo it ordained by the Mayor and Common Council of Jho City of Globe: SECTION I. It shall bo unlawful for any prosti tute, courtesan or lewd woman to en gage in the business of prostitution or to reside in or occupy any building, room, shed or tent within the City of Globe for the purjosc of engaging 'in prostitution therein unless she shall have first obtained from the City Mar shal a permit to cngago in such busi ness and tho occupation of such premises; provided, however, that the building, room, shed or tent shall be situated at least -100 yards in a direct lino from any school house or other public building. SECTION II. It shall bo tho duty of the City Mar shal to issue to any prostitute upon de mand and the payment of the sum of Fifteen Dollars, a permit to engage in prostitution at a certain houso of pros titution, specifically described in such permit for a term not exceeding three months, terminating with each quarter of tho fiscal year; provided that the application fee for a permit issued dur ing tho quarter shall bo pro rated; and provided further that the Marshal may exercise his discretion as to tho place for whicji a permit mny bo issued. It shall bo tho duty of the City Mar shal to keep a correct record of the names and residences of each such ap plicant, which record shall bo open to inspection at all times, and he shall account weokly to the City Clork for all sums of monoy received for the issuance of such permits. It shall bo tho duty of tho holder of such permit to keop the samo posted in a conspicuous place in her room, and it shall bo tho duty of each and every po- lico officer and doputy marshal of the City of Globo to arrest any prostitute engaging in tho business of prostitution in tho City of Globo without a permit, or at any placo other than tho ono spe ..:i.i ! i. .i v-iuuu in ttuuu puriuit, SECTION III. It shall bo unlawful for any owner or agont of any ownor or any person or porsons to lot, leaso or rent for any longth of timo whatever to any womnn of ill fame, any house, room or struc ture for tho purpose of prostitution or assignation unless said woman of ill ftuno shall first havo procured from the City Marshal a permit to occupy said houso, room or structure. SECTION IV. Common reputation for unchastity or prostitution shall be competent and pri ma facio evidence of the character of persons arrested for violation of this Ordinnnco. SECTION V.
