All contracts for work or supplies or material for the City of Globo amounting to more than One Hundred Dollars shall bo lot to tho lowest re sponsible blddor undor such regulations ns tho Council may prescribe All invitations for bids nnd notices of lottiug contracts and other notices of a public character issued by tho au thority of tho Mayor and Common Coun cil must bo published in somo newspaper published in tho City of Globe, in four consocutivo regular issues of a weekly nowspapor, or in ton consecutive regular .issues of a daily nowspapor. SECTION II. ORDINANCE NUMBER FOURTEEN An Ordinance Regulating Sidewalks. Bo it ordained by the Mayor and Common Council of tho City of Globo: SECTION I That it shall bo unlawful for any ono to ropair or construct any sidewalk in the City of Globe, without permission from the Supervisor of Streets, nnd no new sidewalks shall bo constrncted un til tho street shall bo surveyed and the width and grndo of such sidewalk shall bo determined, and when determined tlie sidewalks may be built according to the plans and specifications furnished by tho City Engineer. SECTION II. Tho Mayor of the City of Globe may employ from time to time, with the approval of the Common Council, a competent civil engineer to make such survoys, plans und estimates as shall be nocessajy for the purposes of tho City in tho establishment of street and side walk grades mid improvements, and to do such othor necessary and propor ser vices as may from timo to time be required of him by tho Common Coun cil. SECTION III. Any person violating tho provisions Of Section 1 aforesaid shall bo deemed guilty of n misdemeanor and upon con viction thereof shall bo fined not less than five nor more than ono .hundred dollars. Bo it ordnined by the Mayor and Common Council of tho City of Globe: SECTION I. It shall be unlawful for any prosti tute, courtesan or lewd woman to en gage in tho business of prostitution or to reside in or occupy any building, room, shed or tent within the City of Globe for tho purpose of engaging in prostitution therein unless she shall havo first obtained from tho City Mnr shal a permit to engage in such busi ness and tho occupation of such premises; provided, however, that the building, room, shed or tent shall bo situated at least 400 yards in a direct line from nny school house or othor public building. SECTION II. It shall be tho duty of the City Mar shal to issue to any prostitute upon de mand and the payment of the sum of Fifteen Dollars, a pormit to ongngo in prostitution nt a certain house of pros titution, specifically described in sueh permit for a term not exceeding three months, terminating with each quarter of the fiscal year; provided that tho application feo for n permit issued dur ing tho quartor shall bo pro rated; and provided further that tho Marshal may exorcise his discretion as to tho plncc for which a permit may bo issued. It shall bo tho duty of tho City Mar shal to keep a correct record of tho names and residences of each such np pliennt, which record shnll be open to inspection at all timos, and ho shall account weokly to tho City Clerk for all sums of money received for tho issuance of such permits. It shall bo tho duty of tho holdor of such permit to keep tho samo posted in a conspicuous place in her room, nnd it shall be,thc duty of each and ovory po nce onicor nnu aopiuy mnrsnai oi tue City of Globo to nrrest nny prostitute ongaging in tho business of prostitution in tho City of Globo without a permit, or at any placo other thca tho oue spe cified in sucb permit.. SECTION in. It shall bo unlawful for any owner or agent of any owner or any person or persons to let, lcaso or rent for any length of time whatever to any woman of ill fame, any houso, room or struc ture for tho purposo of prostitution or assignation unless Baid woman of ill fame shall first havo procured from tho City Marshal a pormit to occupy said nouso, room or structure. SECTION rv. Common reputation for unchastity or prostitution shall bo compotont and pri ma facio ovidencd of tho charactor of persons arrested for violation of this Ordinance. SECTION V.
