" Found Body of Infant Judge Thomas, Undertaker P. L. Jones and J. A. Willis drove out yes torday to investigate the reported find ing of tho body of an infant which hnd been discovered in a shallow grave in the Pinal foothills. It was found that tho body was that of an Apaoho Indian infant nnd it was not molested. Dies of Wound Raymond Gourloy, the young man who was accidentally shot in the abdo men several days ngo, died Friday night and tho remains will be sent to Mat thewsville this morning for burial. The deceased was twenty years of ago and came here about six months ago from Utah. The drift on tho 150 foot level shows two and one-half feet of bornito and chalcopyrito ore running high in copper. At tho North Domin ion a winro is being sunk to connect tiuuiols No. 2 and No. 3. This winzo is in oro three and o no-half feet wide, assaying 7 per cent copper nnd 53 per cent iron. r Good results havo been obtained from tho work dono on the Haley and Scott properties adjoining tho North Domin ion. On tho Haley four feet or oro has boon encountered that assays 9 per cent copper. This is in a winzo boing sunk from n crosscut. On the Scott property the shaft, 100 feet in depth, shows three feet of 15 per cent oro. Tho construction of the smelter three and a hlf miles north of Globo has been delayed owiug to non-arrival of machinery. Two furnaces shipped from El Paso two weeks ago havo not yot been recoived. Georgo Mitchell, president of the Mitchell Mining company, and one of the officials of tho Cananca & Globe, will leave Now York tomorrow .for Globo accompanied by a party of di rectors and stockholders of tho two companies. They nro expected to .spend several days looking over the com panies' properties in this' district and will go to Cananea from here. MINE TAX BILL WHICH PASSED (Continued from Page Two) refusal on the assessment book opposite the name ofjmch person, and must make such person, and enter the properTlSWSA' ment upon the assessment roll in the manner provided by Section 4 of this act. And if tho assessor shali at any time ascertain that any-statement of any person owning or operating a mine or mining claim is also or incomplete, he must assess the mine in the same manner as if no statement has been made and delivered, and enter such as sessment upon the assessment roll. In making the estimate of value provided for in this section, the assessor shall havo the power to subpoena nnd exam ine on oath any person regarding the amount of the gross proceeds nnd the value thereof, mined and extracted in his county during said year. Every person who wilfully refuses to appear and testify when requested so to do by the assessor as above pro vided, for each nnd ever)' refusal, and as often as the same is repeated, shall forfeit to the county tho sum of one hundred dollars, to be recovered by action brought in the name of the as sessor in any court of competent juris diction. Any monoy recovered by an assessor as provided for in this section must be paid by him into the treasury of tho county where tho mines nnd mining claims are situated. Section 11. If any person required by this act to make or file any state ment under oath or affirmation shall willfully make or give under oath or affirmation any such statement which ho knows to bo false in any material matter, ho shall bo deemed guilty of perjury, and upon conviction thereof shall bo punished therefor as is pro vided by law or the punishment of per jury. Section 12. In tho event tho owner of any supfi mine is dissatisfied with tho valuation fixed by the assessor as pro vided in Section 10, such owner shall have the right to appeal to the district court of the county in which such mino or mining claim is situated, and such court shall hear and determine the question of tho amount of tho product and tho vnlue thereof, nnd to fix tho valuo thereof during tho calendar year preceding tho first Mondny in Febru ary of such year. The only issuesto bo tried by the court shall be: Whether tho true amount and char acter of tho product have been nscor tained, whether such product has been correctly valued, and whether tho proper valuation has been entered upon tho assessment rolls. Section 13. The tax mentioned in tho preceding section must bo collected and tho payment thereof enforced in tho same mannor provided for tho collec tion and enforcement of othor taxes; and every such tax is a lien upon such mino or mining claims, which lion at taches on tho first Monday in February in each year; and the proceeding for the enforcement of said lien nnd the enforcement of said lien nnd the sale of said mine or mining claim for de linquent taxes shall bo had and mado in the same mannor as provided in other tax cases. Section 14. All laws and parts of laws in conflict with tho provisions of this act arc hereby ropealed. Section 15. This act shall take ef fect and bo in force from nnd nfter tho date of its passage.
