HOT RETURNS Doc Goodwin, Holder of Many Records, Comes Back to ' Tucson, Doc Goodwin, holder of more records and owrier of medals of every kind and description won during tho days when he traveled with tho wild west show of Arizona Charley Meadows and Buf falo Bill Cody, arrived in Tucson yes terday morning, says the Tucson Citi zen, and will remain here for several days as tho guest of friends in Tucson. Doc Goodwin is a native of Arizona, and for years was tho holder of the record in all cowboy sports. In fact, tho timo of Doc Goodwin mado in a steer tying contest eight or ten years ago has never been equalled, and de spite the claims of numerous contest ants and aspirants for tho honor, it is still agreed by all old timers who saw Goodwin years ago, that a better horse man never sat in a saddle. In the early days of the territory no county fair or town carnival was com plete without the accompanying steer tying, broncho busting, nag picking nnd othor sports which go to complcto a cowboy festival, and it was in these palmy days of tho past that Doc Good win, then a resident of Phoenix, was in tho height of his glory. Goodwin was known over the entire, west ns the crack exponent of all these sports and men came from every state, in the west to dispute the honor with him, but every one of them was sent home by the redoutnble Doe, a conquered hero. It was while he was tho holder of all these records that W. F. Cody heard of him, and nothing would do but that be should become the star performer in his wild west show, and for several years Goodwin traveled with him over the country. Lnter Charley Meadows organized a si. ilar troupe and Good win travoled witlf him for some time. Goodwin has now, however, retired from tho artnn of wild west sports in which ho covered himself with so much glory, nnd is engaged in the cat tie business, also making n sido line of mining. Mr. Brown brings with him a cnrload of scenery for the play and in Bisbeo and Douglas, where "Tho Collego Pennant" was re cently played, the press was unanimous in saving that tho scenery was tlio finest ever hung in a local theator. Tho play is written around tho annual boat race between Harvard and Yale and it is tho work of King nnd Evans, who col laborated in "Tho Elk's Tooth," which Mr. Brown produced for several sea; sons.
