to want a job that brings no "pay,
some honor and much abuse.

Conditions arc rapidly assuming their
normal shapo in Globo nnd even now
tho remaining effects of tho recent
financial panic arc not apparent on the
surface. But no matter how good times
will become in tho future, tho so-called
business men "who took advantage of
tho more unfortunate in times of stress
will not be forgotten and especially so
in the cajc of the discount sharks, who
through the ignorance of their victims
robbed them of their wages.
COPPEE PREDICTIONS.
According to our Boston advices,
Thomas V. Colo is imparting to his
friends a belief that copper will reach
a point of 20 cents a pound during
this present year of grace. Mr. Cole
has at sundry and divers times im
. parted to his friends a great many
things, somo of which have come true,
and somo haven't. As a prognosticator
Mr. Colo is no moro reliable or unre
liable than somo other men, but when
he states as his belief that copper will
sell for 20 cents a pound beforo this
year of 1908 has beon raked in, it will
not bo improper to remark in response
thereto, that Mr. Colo is talking at long
range, and possibly through his som
brero. There is," of courso, no saying
what copper may sell at; it all depends
upon whether consumers want it, nnd
how much of it they want. Theso are
matters that hinge upon business con
ditions concerning which wo have all
gathered somo additional knowlcdgo
during tho last few months.
Mr. Cole asserts, in advocacy of his
belief in a futuro 20 cent copper mar
ket, that American consumers are so
short on stocks that they aro "actual
ly sweeping up the floors to gather
up tho filings," that none may be lost,
and then proceeds to point tho moral of
his talc, saying, that if consumers arc
laying to their souls tho flattering unc
tion that they are going to get copper

produce it they deceive themselves nnd
tho truth is not in them. Mr. Colo
fails to take into his calculations tho
possibility of tho "cat coming back"
from China, likewise from other distant
countries; or, to speak without meta
phor, a largo portion of tho enormous
shipments of copper from this country
mado during tho last three months find
ing its way back when copper shall
havo reached a price that will pay to
bring it back. Those immense foreign
shipments constitute a factor that will
havo to bo reckoned with.
And again, as to tho cost of copper
it must bo remembered that thcro aro
great mines that can produco no cop
per under 15 cents or even moro per
pound, and thcro nro mines that can
m alto a good profit with copper at 10
cents per pound. Wlien mines can make
a profit they usually operate, though
thcro aro somo that continuo operation

Had a String of Stolen Horses in His
Possession When Overhauled by tho
Ranger Shot a Globo Man in Arm
About Two Years Ago,
Henry Blovins, horso thief, gun fight
er and all-'round bad man, well and
unfavorably known to tho sheriffs of
almost every. county in Arizona, is in
jail at Kingman, in lieu of $2,000 bonds,
awaiting the action of the Mohavo
county grand jury on a chnrgo of horso
stealing, having been captured by
Hanger A. K. Khle, a nativo of Yavapai
county, it Chlorido recently.
Blovins had been pursuing his nofnri
ous occupation in tho vicinity of 'Chlor
ido nnd Salt Springs for sovernl months,
according to tho statements of ono of
tho rangers. Ho had gathered up a
bunch of horses, numbering fourteen,
somo bearing brands nnd others un
branded, which ho no doubt intended
to dispose of. at Chloride, Kingman and
other northern Arizona towns
When Blovins learned that Hanger
Elilo was close on his trail he turned
looso seven of his captive nnimals,
tho ranger securing five of tho stolen
animals at the time ho effected Blov
ins' arrest, which ho did in a very easy
manner, tho noted horso thief making
but little effort at resistance when tho
officer called upon him to surrender.
For somo years Blovins has been
classed as an "undesirable citizen"
by tho Arizona officers. Besides sus
pecting him strongly of numerous
horso thefts, tho ofiiccrs know ho was
a "gun man" of a dangerous character,
and "quick on tho trigger." His repu
tation for dnngerousness is said to havo
been gained by him for tho part he
took in the Tonto Basin feud of ISSi.
About two yenrs ago ho shot a citi
zen of Globo in the arm, tho man los
ing that member by nmputation as n
result of tho wound. Blovins served
a term .in the penitentiary, at. Yuma as
a result of ono of his escapades.
