Marvo Saw Great Light Marvo, tho handcuff king appearing nt tho Iris, saw a great light at the Dominion hotel after the performance last night. Marvo is something of a practical jokor. Ho iillod an orango with sawdust and handed it to Tko Icvy, tho hotel bartender, who took- a large bite into it. Iko novor said a word, but ho worked hard for a bout fourv hours after that, tunnel'ng into a large cigar of Marvo 's favorite brand. A shot gun cartridgo furnished tho powder, and the infernnl machine was handed to tho or ango stuffor last night after the stage had been duly set with as many of tho boyo as could bo got together. Marvo lit tho cigar and insisted on talking to Clerk Brown. Brown just could not break away from the key rack to hear what Marvo had to say that is, not until tho expected happened .for once. It was liko touchinga shot in a- quarry. It was the biggest smoko Marvo cvor had and several of the guests upstairs had started for tho fire escnpes before they could understand what tho haw haws in tho lobby v?ero all about. Wales and Miss Lydia Sparks charmingly entertained tho Fri day Evening Whist club at the home of Mrs. C. L. Rawlins Friday ovqning. Howard Wayne was tho winner of the gentlemen's first prizo and Miss Rabin ovitz captured the ladies' prize. The next meeting of tho club will be with Harry Sultan tho evening of March 12. Another Big Building Sultan & Wayne, tin) engineers, moved yesterday from their old quar ters, next to tho courthouso in Broad street, to Room 23, in the Trust build ing, preparatory to tho demolition of the building 'herotoforo occupied by their oflicc1!, the city marshal's office and tho Sultan store. Sultan Brothers are about to erect Ou this site a modern brick store structure, sixty feet front and ono hundred feet deep, one story high and so built that another story may be added as exigency requires. The' old buildings will be torn down as soon as certain complications arising from the purchase of the ten feet of ground ad joining tho courthouso are overcome, and the new store will be rushed to completion. Finishing Electric Building The now electric building will bo ready for occupancy in a few days, and tho Globo Gas & Electric company will soon movo into its new quarters. Railroad Company Increases Force Two more warehousemen havo been put on by tho railroad company, and tho interior of tho big warehouse presents a lively scene all day. Two hundred feet long and nearly fifty feet wido, the warehouse, when finished, seems too large for almost any use, but since it has been plnced in ubc; it is proving noijo too big, owing to the continued increase in local freight business. And tho consignee? are not permitted to leave thoir goods in storage there for any undue "length of time, either. All day long tho trucks are rolling across tho big, smooth floor, taking froight from tho cars o the team side of the building and other freight from the team side to tho .cars to bo sont to poo plo down tho valley from tho local stores. Long Burro Procession A long procession of burros along the ridge west of town yesterday after noon attracted no little attention. The outfit was rather suggestive of a baud of Apaches on tho move. Tho parade, however, was only Senor Cardinas changing his scene of operations from Copper Hill to Ray. Cardinas is a wood cutting contractor, owning sixty-six burros and working nbout fifteen men, all of whom, accompanied by thoir wives and children traveled along with the cavalcade, presenting a strange ap pearanco as they showed up against the sky lino ou top of the hills. New Beds for Prisoners J'm Berry is busy building thirty two deck cots for tho county jail. Hitherto tho prisoners havo been sleeping on the ordinary spring cots, but these had to be discarded, both becauso of the in creasing number of prisoners taking up all tho rpom, and tho further fact that tho spring cots could easily bo taken apart and bo converted into formidable clubs in tho hands of lunatics or dos perato prisoners, to the great danger of their companions in tho jail. Wood Had Strenuous Time Harry Wood contributed $20 to tho city treasury yesterday at the invita tion of .Tustico Hinson Thomas. Wood had been having a lurid timo and in his excess of joy shoved a friend through a glass door in Dominic Bar toglio's place.
