Railroad Buys Property
By a deed placed on record yesterday,
tho Gila Valley railroad takes over
lot 15, North Globe, from Samuel Blight
and wife. The lot is an irregularly
shaped picco of property, containing
7.314 square feet. Tho purchase price
was $3,230. Local officials of tho com
pany are noncommital as to the use
to which tho property will bo put. It
is supposed to have beeu purchased for
right of way purposes.
Czarnowski a Visitor
F. M. Czarnowski pf Phoenix, is
spending a few days in. this city looking
nftor the interests of the Pacific Slope
Securities company. The company ho
represents is a western organization,
formed with the idea of keeping the
returns from casualty insurance in tho
Pacific coast district, instead of al
lowing it to go to the enst, as has
been tho case in the past.

Tho quarterly report of the Globe Na

shows a gratifying increase in tho vol
ume of business over tho last quartorly
report, deposits amounting to 3.2 per
cent increase, a total of $144,115.32.

Prospector Comes to Light
William P. Finuell, an old prospector,
who was reported lost in tho hills
around Yuma, appeared in Globo yester
day. Ho camo here to get away from
the heat of the desert Knd will probably
go farther north in a day or so. He did
not know of the report that he was lost
until he struck civilization again.

Sheriff Walker and posse returned to
night after a day of vain search for
the lone robber who held up and robbed

Despite the statement of the local
Wclls-Fargo agent that tho highway

he secured a considerable sum. Wells
Fargo detectives aro expected tomorrow.

gutted a room occupied by 'the Peoples'
bakery, located in a one-story brick
building near thcTLcroy house on North
Broad at 1 o'clock this morning.
The fire was discovered before it had
gained any great headway, and the de
partment extinguished the names be
fore they had spread to other parts of

The stock and fixtures of the bakery
were badly damaged and tho loss will

Joe Peterson was placed under bonds
of $1,500 to keep the peace yesterday
as the result of his alleged actions in
throwing down, choking and threaten
ing to kill Mrs. Geneva Fryer.
When Peterson" appeared before
Judgo Hinson Thomas on tho charge
ho offered no testimony on his own he
half, and did not contest the charge
filed against him by Mrs. Fryer. He
secured F. W. Rolando and Trunk Gill
as sureties on his bond and was re
leased. According to the story told by Mr.
Fryer, at the time of Peterson's arrest,
ho became angered when she would not
give him a room at one of her housei
and became so ciolent that she wa
forced to have him placed under bonds
to protect herself.
