day, closing at tho lowest prices of the
day. Boston market was weaker with

nfternoon. In tho opinion of Mr. Bon
nie, work will be resumed tomorrow
morning, .at the latest.
M. C. Cheney, representing the Allis
Chalmers company, manufacturers of
the furnace equipment, inspected tho
plant yesterday. According to Mr. Ben
me, the trouble was found to hnvo re
sulted from defective material.
It will Jo necessary to roplaco tho
jackets, but it is thought that tho pres
ent equipment can bo used until tho
new jackets arrive and that thero will
be no further cessation in smelter operations.

Tho new apparatus, which consists of
a gas container, capable of holding
three times tho quantity of gas which
can now bo stored, as well as a new
purifier and othor apparatus necessary
for tho improvement of the plant, lias
already been shipped and will arrive
here within tho next few weeks.
Tho cntiro now installation will bo
ready for use bv tho first of April, ac
cording to tho prcsont plans. Tho now
plant will not only supplya far grcator
number of consumers; but it will pro
vido purer gas than - that at prcsont
manufactured and give moro satisfac
tion to tho consumers.

larged and extended, in preparation for
an increased number of consumers,

Tuesday and since that time he has
been busily engaged in personally vis
iting all of the members of the cham
ber and arousing enthusiasm in that or
ganization. Although he lias been at work oil this
boosting campaign for ouly two days,

much .success, as practically every mepi
ber of the organization has expressed
himself aS highly pleased with the man

his support to tho organization.
In additiou, several new members
have been secured and it is expected
that within tho next two weeks, the
chamber will beuin to assume an ap
pearance of activity unlike anything
heretofore seen in this city.

ing annual subscriptions in varying
