Those present were: Hon. W. M. Davidson, Mayor, and Messrs. Joe. Curry, E. J. Walton, B. F. Young, O. Levy and L. Buckner, Jr., Al-. dermen. Aquorom being present, the Board proooeded to business. The reading of the minutes of the last meeting was dispensed with. On motion the following resolu tion was adopted: Be it Ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of St. Jo seph: That the town license for the sale, at retail, of distilled alco holic and malt liquors in the Town of St. Joseph for the year 1916 be and the same is hereby fixed at Seventeen hundred and fifty Dollars; the same to be due and collectible on January 1st, 1916, and to expire on December 31st, 1916. Be it further ordained that the six month license to be imned during the latter half of the year 1918 be and the same is hereby fixed at one hundred per centum of the annual license. Our entire ah pr was shocked on t Tuesday to learn of the sudden death ofMr. Cbs. Cordill Parrar, which oourred at the Cbhamberlain sanita rim in Natches on Tuesday. Mr. d Farar had been a sufferer from the Mvaling malady, I, grippe, and was acompanled by his brother, Mr. e 8. D. Farrar, to Natchbes, just a weak before his death and placed in a the sanitaium. For many years--t practicaly his whole life-- he has been a safferer from asthma, which was intensely aggrivated by la ol grippe and death resulted from con- bh gestion of the lungs. d Deceased was unmarried and was 86 years of age and was a native :of this parah, he m the eldest son of ni Mrs. and the late Mr. 8. Our community was shocked to n s5 learn of the death of Mr. Chas. ii - Cordill Farrar, which occurred at a sanitarium in Natchez on Tuesday " morning. Quite a number of friends from here went down to Nathes Wedneeday to attend the funiral, *which was conducted by Rev. C. F. SEmery. It is worthy of note that many of the negroes that left this section for Sthe Missimsippi delta upon the ad vent of the boll weevil in these parts have returned and are constantly -dropping in every day. Mr. Willie Muir and Miss Ine Gordon were quietly married at Monroe at the home of her cousin, and after spending a few days at Vicksburg, returned home on the ihail-boat, thereby escaping the crowd of friends that had assembled at the depot to give them a rice re oeption. Mr. Robert Gambre was married at Natbches this week and will re turn with his bride on Sunday. The death of Mrs. Bliss Roberts ooeurred at Gulfport, Miss., on Christmas night and her remains were interred in the family lot at Port Gibson. Mrs. Roberts before marriage was Miss Bliss Davenport and was a sister of the late Mrs. J. M. McGill of this pariah, where she was well-known in former days She was also auntto Mrs. L. A. Murdoek.
