Pino Health Record.
Kditor l’li avi si;: Since my resi
lience in Prescott, 1 have frequently
received letters from the more east
ern states, inquiring as to the health
of southwest Arkansas, and especial
ly about Prescott. In order to lie
able to answer these inquiries intel
ligently, I commenced a few dnvs
past to collect the statistics of deaths
among the white citizens of Prescott.
I find the total number of deaths
among the white citizens to be, for
the year 1880, only skvkn. This is
a most remarkable record. Our white
population is not less than 1.250.-—
This gives a death rate of only i of
1 per cent. I have also been assur
ed by the physicians of l’ryscott that
the territory around the town in
which they practice, would not give
a death rate materially different
from this. 1 deem this matter of
public interest, and of great impor
tance. There is. perhaps, not a bet
ter health record in the United
States. H. 11. Mounow.
