Joe Hatch, who is eniployed with the power department of the P.P. & 1,. company at Hood River, was a week~end visitor at the home of his mother. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Smith of Pai erson are the parents of a son born Monday at the Pasco hospital. Mrs. Smith is the formér Miss Gwendo lyn Halliday. 3 Mr, and Mrs, Wilmot Gravens lund and family have returned from a two weeks' vacation spent visiting Mr. Gravenslund’s parents at Wood lawn and other coast cities. Mr! and Mrs. Kenneth Durham are the proud parents of a daugh ter born August 5 at the Pasco hos pital. = The youngster has been named Wanda J. and weighed 8 pounds and 14 ounces. Mrs. W. J. Skinner, Mrs. Glenn Felton, Mrs. Hendricks, Mrs. R. E. Reed and Miss Florence Oliver left Monday morning for'a week’s outing at Bumping Lake, where they have taken a cabin, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Beard of Fort Wayne, Indiana stopped here Fri day to visit friends. Mr. Beard is a former Kennewick resident and is new employed with the General Electric company. Miss Margaret Hawkins attended a picnic of the southeastern dis trict of the Business and Profes sional Women’s club, which was held in Walla Walla Sunday. The Walla .;:_x}lub was host for the district meet- " Kenneth Staley and Harvey, Keene told Kiwanians about their thous and mile bike trip at the regular luncheon Tuesday noon. They plan to make another trip on their wheels next summer with Michigan as the objective. A group of neighbors of Henry Kathman surprised him Sunday, July 31 and helped him celebrate his 88th birthday. Cooper of Chew elah became the bride Sunday of Paul L, Engbretson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Engbretson of Quiney. The ceremony took place at the First Congregational church at Chewelah with the Rev. Charles P. Milne of Pullman reading the vows, The bride had as her maid of hon or, Miss Alysjune Dunning of Spo kane and the groom was attended by Curtis Roberts of Spokane. Following the ceremony the young couple left for a honeymoon, after which they will make their home in Pasco. Mr, Engbretson is now the Frank lin county administrator for the state department of social security at Pasco and was in similar work previously in Kennewick. He receiv ed both his B, A. and M. A. degrees at Washington State College, receiv ing his master's degree in 1936. This romance began while both were students at W.S.C., the bride having graduated with 4 B, A. de gree last June. Mrs, Enghretson is national president of the Students’ Young Women's Christian associa tion and also served as president of Kappa Alpha Theta, while Mr. Eng bretson is & member of Phi Sigma Kappa.
