Steve Smith returned home last week from a two weeks’ visit in Montana; Hugh Bell went to ,Union, Ore gon last Wednesday, bringing his' father~back with him for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Z. Perrault were guests Tuesday evening of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Brockhausen of Presser. Grange held its reopening meet ing Friday night, beginning with a potluck supper. Guests were pres ent from Locust Grove Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Root and Gilbert Clodfelter, who spoke on the grange burial .in surance. Plans were made to begin arrangements for fixing up the local hall. A program was presented by the lecturer, Mrs. Dennis Henson. Roll Call was responded to by men tioning favorite radio staars. The next meeting, Oct. 21 will also be a potluck affair and roll call will be current evenfi. ' Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith and” son Ra'lph made a business trip to Walla Walla Friday. Guy Morgan returned home Sun day evening from his hunting trip, reporting no luck. ‘ Locust Grove Grange Entertain ‘ Locust Grove Grange entertained the Pomona Grange at the local hall Saturday. Dinner was served to a crowd of 300, followed by lnltla tlon in the Fifth degree. The pro-1 gram, in charge of the lecturer, Mrs.! M. Simmellnk, was given in the form' of a circus and was highly en joyed by the large audience. ; Apples, dipped in a salt water so lutlon, will not change color. Cecil Edwards was a Coulee dam visitors over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Safford re turned Monday from a two-months’ trip over the United States, visiting relatives and touring the beauty spots or the country. ‘ Mrs. M. Simmelink leaves Friday for Pullman with Miss Steiner where they will represent Benton county in a new project being introduced through the Extension Service rela tive to Home and Land Building. A short business meeting was held. with 2 new applications and 4 were given the third and fourth degrees. Among the visitors present were Deputy Carl Williams, who gave a short talk and presented C. Puder baugh a silver certificate for 25 years’ membership in the grange. After the business session a pro gram was given by the lecturer. during which time Mr. R. H. Per kins was honored as a charter mem-‘ her. A talk was also given by Hon.‘ Knute Hill. Later lunch was serv-z ed to about 150. Mrs. Harold, Ellsworth and Ed} O'Haira entertained with a shower honoring Mrs. Harvey O'Hara on Thursday at the Harold O’Hara§ home. About 35 ladies attended. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Piert visited in Walla Walla Sunday. ' A large crowd attended the auc tion sale Tuesday at the Deacon home. Mr. and Mrs. Deacon will leave Thursday for their new home in Longview. Malcolm Young came Sunday from Baker, Ore., for a few days' visit with his mother, Mrs. Mazie Young. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson, Mrs. Leo Glassner or Kennewick and Mr. and Mrs. Jens Lande were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. Johnson.
