Bier have moved from the Lasher house to. the Roehl home, which is one of the nicest places in town. A car .belongipg to ‘one of the sheep men who is pastnring in the Fruitvale district, was burned up Sunday on the Yakima flat. ' vßev. C. S. Foster is in Walla. Walla this week. While away the two child ren are making their home with Mrs. Wm. Relton. The Peavey family, who have been living on the Bechtoldt ranch for the past year, have moved to the little house on the Fred Smoots ranch. , Postmaster Wm. Relton is spending a few days in Vancouver visiting his son Cyril and family. He will also be in Portland this week attending to bus iness. ' ‘ Mesdames Martin Wienenga, H; L. CaldWell, J. B. Clements and F. A. Rouse will be joint hostesses at a meeting of the Ladies’. Aid of the‘M. E. church to be held at the home of Mrs. H. F. Yedica on Wednesday af terndon, March 19th. Mrs. W. E. Barnard ha's purchased the Glen .Mcfihan ten-acre orchardl This will make the Barnard family one of the finest apple orchards in the val ley, as it Was only last year that Mr. Barnard purchased theß. 11ch ten acres, all in full bearing. 3 Mrs. F. A. Friermood, who enlisted as a Red Cross nurse during the war and who has been assisting in-the flu seige at Spokane since the armistice was signed, arrived in Ricliland the latter part of the week to spend the summer on her beautifnl place north of town. i - 5‘ y"" . . ‘ Harry Hunt met with a most pain ful accident when he was attempting to get the harness on his horse last Saturday. A chicken which was in the barn, flew up and lighted on his am just as he was about to put a part of the harness over he horse’s head. The horse took frighz, charged around in such a way that it pulled Mr; Hunt’s am back, literally pulling ‘the liga ments out of 'the socl<ét We are glad to report that he is doing nicely at this writing. * .2 The Richland Red Gross advises ey eryone to go on a fast next Monday so that they will have a big appetite for the good eats which will be served at the Red Cross chicken pie suppers in the hall, Monday evening, March 17. The' ladies will start serving at six and will continue as long as there is anything left to partake of; They will also sell two quilts during the evening and are most anxious that a! large crowd will tarp out as the treas ury is in need of a. little more money and this is the only “doings” the Circle has given for a. 12mg tinie. ~ J. A. Thompson, who has been ap-i pointed. deputy assessor for the Rich land district, is right on the job when‘ it comes to rounding up sheep and keeping them in- Benton county long enough so that the tax on the flbcks‘ will go to this county instead of to some other. As a result of his care-l ful attention to duty he added over‘ $270 to the county treasury last week 1 when he stopfied a band of sheep be-! longing to the, Wexlcr Sheep Co. ‘of‘ Pasco and secured the tax for Bentonl county just as the gtock was being: driven over to the home grazingpas-l ture. ' . i 1 D. M. Holt of Okanogan, who 'ar-1 rived in ' Richland Friday ~will? have charge of his son’s orchard for the coming season. Mrs. Holt will m 7; main in Olympia, where she is taking charge of her three motherless grand-j children. We are shocked to learn; that little James Davis, one of the‘ small grandchildren who recently lost!j his mother,’ died about two weeks ago. i The little fellow, who visited many' times in Richland when his grandpar-l ents made this their home; endeared himself to a host of friends who arel saddened to hear of the dear little} boy’s death. 1 The people of Richland will be dis appointed to learn ghat Dr. C. Dr. and _Mrs. Happér are now in Kennewick where they are having a ,house renovated for their occupancy and the doctor will soon be installed in suitable offices, ready to have his many friends call updh him. ’ V . Mrs. J. E. 'Quiner is installing 1,000 feet of concrete pipe on her ranch north of’Richland. - The Ockletree family has leased the W. P. Allen tract for the coming sea son and have moved there to live. Mrs. J. D. McCarthy and daughter Dolores have both been very in this week, but are now on the road to re covery. M. K. Page is back on‘his orchard a'ti Richland. Mrs. Page is still at _Cheney, but will come here to join her husband the latter partof the month. M C. W. Holt announces a recital for l:Véllednesday evening, March 19th. The pupils are showing a marked im- provement, according to their parents, and everyone in the district is invited. to be present at this musical treat. ‘ F. A. Howes drove up from 'Van- couver Monday with Dr. Hopper and is now; visiting friends in Richland. The judge says he is coming hack to Richland as soon as he can. He claims that 'even the looks of sage brush is pleasant to him and the coastcountry is not in it with the. Columbia River valley; ' ' ' 1 A large and gnthusiastic crowd of I'porple attended the get-together meet ] ing at the Methodist church Wednes , day evening. A balnguet 'was served ‘ at eight o’clock, the tables groaning r underthe weight of the good things. Speakers were present from outside I points and it proved to be a most enjoyable and instructive session. I A meeting of the Parent-'l‘eachers’ association of Richland will be held in the high school Monday evening, Mar. 17th. A special feature of the pro gram will be an illustrated lecture on Ithe United States navy at work and at play. The pictures, which illustrate the lecture are said to be very fine and are sent out by the government. Everyone is invited to attend this'in structive session. You can eat your supper at the Red Cross rooms first‘ and get there in plenty of time for the iassociation meeting. ' ‘ l i The open house for husbands held by the Country club Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Erickson was one of the most enjoy able and larely attended affairs ever given by the organization. .The party served a three-fold purpose; it was a chance for friend husband to get out into society; it was a house warming for Mr. and Mrs. Erickson who re cently.-mov.ed into their .newly com-. pleted home, one of the finest in the district, and it was also a farewell par ty for Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Wadsworth, who leave this week for Connell to make their home. The house was crowded with members and their hus-‘ hands, who enjoyed a social evening followed by a bounteons luncheon. The club' presented Mrs. Wads Worth with a beautiful cut glass dish as a farewell? gift and also as a souvenir of the 36th anniversary of her wedding, which happened to fall on that day. “Mine legs. are sore mit stiffness." “No vonder.
