Ki-Be Team Loses
Class B Tournament
(Left cm; Last Week.)
BENTON CITY—The Ki-Be high
school basketball team lost both
their games at the Class.“B" tourna
men‘t'Friday and Saturday in Zil
lah. Friday evening they were de
feated 41 to 7 by Moxee City and
Saturday evening 39 to 16 by Gold
endale. Playing on the team were
Meurnlce Wilson, Fred Wilson, Jack
Smith, Wayne Hanson, Tommy
Mathews. Earl Finley, George
Uland, John Roop, Robert Johan
son and Leo Hadley. Twill Rider is
manager and Gordon Rolph, coach.
The boys were taken up by M. W.
Roop, Gordon Rolph and J. Harold
Stringer. Mrs. Roop and Mrs. Ralph
accompanied the group.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Morgan, Mr.
and Mrs. I. M. Hartman and Mrs.
Ed Jacobson attended Pomona
grange Saturday at Finley.
Mrs. Lucille Church returned on
Wednesday to her home at Issa

LOCUST GROVE—Miss Elizabeth
Brown. a former Locust Grove
schoolteacher, spent the week-end
at the M. Simmelink home. Miss
Brown is located in Yakima and is
employed with the Pacific Power &.

itor at the Gilbert Edwards home.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Simmelink were

surprise birthday party honoring
Mrs. Clyde Higley Wednesday eve
ning.
Mrs. Anna Johnson. of Yakima is
a houseguest at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. M. V. Heberleln.
4-H Club Plans St.
Patrick’s Dinner
I WESTERN HORSE HEAVEN—
After several weeks of inactivity due
‘to slippery roads and illness of var
ious members, the local 4-H club
held a most enthusiastic meeting at
the Bell home Saturday afternoon. A
St. Patrick’s party and diimer was
planned for March 16 with parents
invited as guests. This will also be
at the Bell home. Mrs. Bell, Mrs.
Eric Cooper and Mrs. Edward Ty
acke were visitors and assisted in
planning the party. After the bus
inws meeting instructions were
given in knitting and an afghan
for the Red Cross was started. The
recreation period was spent in tell
ing Jokes and planning individual
projects. Refreshments of ice
cream and cookies were served at
the end or the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burkhart and
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Tyacke and
children spent Tuesday evening at
the Ralph Wooden home.
Mr. and Mrs. z. Pemul-t were
visitors in Pasco Thursday.

ORDINANCE NO. 361
An Ordinance providing for borrow
ing $4500.00 to be expended in the
construction of the extension of
Washington Street, in the City of
Kennewick, providing for the is
suance of general obligation bonds
therefor, fixing the maximum rate
of interest at par and the date of
maturity of said bonds, directing
notice to be given of the proposed
issuance of said bonds and calling
for bids for the sale thereof and
fixing the time and place of meet
ing of the City Council to con-
f sider said bids.
‘ The City Council of the City of
Kennewick Does Ordain as Follows:
Section 1. That it is necessary for
the proper construction of certain
streets within the City of Kenne
wick, and particularly Washington
Street as extended north from State
Highway No. 3, commonly known
as Columbia Avenue, that there be
borrowed the smn of $4500.00.
Section 2. That to secure the nec
essary funds for constructing the
extension of Washington Street and
surfacing the same, the City of
Kennewick will issue negotiable
bonds for the sum of $4500.00, which
said bonds shall be designated
“Washington Street Extension
Bonds,” they shall be serial in form
and maturity and numbered from
one upward consecutively, and shall
mature commencing with the second
year and ending with the tenth
year, it being determined and de
clared that the life of the improve
ment for which said bonds are pro
posed -to be issued will be approxi
mately ten years. Said bonds shall
bear the date of their issue and
shall be issued as soon as practic
able after their acceptance; they
shall be in such amounts to be spec
ified by the City Council as will,
as nearly as practicable, together
with interest on all outstanding
bonds, be met by an equal annual
tax levy for the payment of said
bonds and interest. Said bonds shall
bear interest from their date at not
to exceed six percent per annum,
payable semi-annually, and both
principal and interest shall be pay
able at the office of the City Treas
urer of Kennewick, Washington, or,
if purchased by the State of Wash
ington, at the office of the Treasur
er of said State.
Section 3. The City Clerk of the
City of Kennewick is hereby direct
ed to advertise for bids for the sale
of said bonds in the Kennewick
Courier-Reporter in the manner
provided by law, to send a notice of
the sale of said bonds, as provided
by law, to the State Finance Com
mittee of the State of Washington
at least three weeks before the time
of considering the bids for said
bonds.

be substantially in the following

Washington Street Extension Bonds
and shall sell the bonds to the per
son or persons making the most ad
vantageous offer therefor, being the
lowest rate of interest and with
premium at par which said bonds
will be accepted, and the City Coun
cil shall have the right to reject any
and all bids and to readvertise and
sell said bonds in the manner here
in provided.
Section 'l. This ordinance shall be
in effect five days after its passage,
approval and publication in the of
ficial newspaper in the City of Ken
newick.

BEN'ION CITY—As a vault of
the mild weather which has prevail
ed here the last few weeks. Mrs.
Arthur Johnson reports she has
daffodils four and five inches high
ready to burst into bloom.
Mrs. Marion Warner went to
Kennewick Monday to stay with her
sister. Mrs. Wallace Preston a week
or longer while receiving medical
treatment. Mrs. Warner has been
ill since last fall.
Mrs. W. C. Muldrow entertained
the bridge club at a one o’clock
luncheon Tuesday at her home in
Kennewick. Each guest was given a
gift. High honors went to Mrs.
W. E. Fillmore and second to Mrs.
Robert Johanson. Mrs. Argus
Hughes and Mrs. W. A. DeGood
furnished the transportation. Mrs.
I. M. Hartman will be hostess at
the February 25 meeting.
Grange members and their fam
ilies had a potluck supper Wednes
day evening preceding their meet
ing. The third and fourth degrees
were conferred on a candidate. The
revised by-laws were read and
adopted. Charles Johanson was
elected treasurer in place of P. A.
