Finley Grange Ladies
Prepare Degree Team
FINLEY—Finley grange met on
Thursday night with fifty members
present. One new application for
membership and one reinstatement
were brought in. Mrs. B. Slocum.
Mrs. Dan Gerber and Miss Marie
Gerards were appointed by the
master to organize a ladies’ degree
team. At the close of the grange the
lecturer, Mrs. Dan Gerber enter
tained with a. pmgnam and contest.
J. R. Ayers and W .W. Rice receiv
ed prizes.
Mrs. Albert Piert entertained the
Finley Pinochle club Tuesday with
a one o’clock luncheon, after which
three tables of pinochle were in
play with high score to Mrs. Harold
Gerards. traveling to Mrs. E. Sherry
and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin low. The
next meeting will be with Mrs.
Harold Witham.
The Young People of the Finlay
[range are holding a. pie social Fri
day night at the gnange hall. The
proceeds will go toward paying on
the musical instrument. Dancing
will follow. Everybody welcome.
Mrs. Robert Perkins and children
Barbara and John. visited relatives
in Pendleton Sunday.
Philey grange will meet March
20 at 8 pm. At the close a lunch
will be served with a. birthday cake,
honoring all those whose birthdays
occur in Jammry. February and
March. All grunge members are

LOCUST GROVE—Forty neighbors
and friends of Fred and Neil Sim
melink gathered at their home on
Sunday evening and enjoyed a
birthday party arranged by Mrs.
Shirley Larkin in their honor. Pin
ochle was played with high scores
being won by Mrs. Grace Edwards
and Roy Kratzer. Lovely refresh
ments, including a huge birthday
cake, were served by the hostess.

Mrs. Everett Powell of Portland.

Mrs. Aaron Foraker left last week
to spend a few wekes with her par
ents in White Salmon.
The Les Amies Pinochle club will
meet next Wednesday, March 19
for its regular meeting at the home
of Mrs. Harvey Ray.
Mrs. Minnie Owens received a
message this week, telling of the
death of her brohter, Nick Mace,
whose home is in Brazil, Ind.
Mrs. Harry Owens was a business
visitor in Yakima Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Simsen enter
tained with a 6:30 dinner party
and cards Saturday evening. Five
tables were in play with prizes go
ing to Mrs. Bruce Lampson, Mrs.
Neva Watkins. Mrs. Gladys Kel
son and Frank Lampson.

Plans For Auxiliary
Spring Conference
LOCUST GROVE— Mrs. Ruth
Simmelink returned Saturday from
a week’s trip over the Sixth District
of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Seventeen units of that organiza
tion were visited during the week
and were entertained by a very
interesting lecture by the depart
ments president, Mrs. Mayme Cun
ningham, who accompanied Mrs.
Sin ielink. The sixth district in
cludes the towns of Easton and Cle
Elm" south through Pasco and is
one of ten districts in the Depart
ment of Washington American Le
gion Auxiliary. Arrangements are
being made for the spring confer
ence which will be held in 18st
burg early in May.

to fill the office; the men dressing
as women and the women as men.
The Hirse Heaven extends its
sympathy to Mrs. Harry Sagsvold
and her family in the death of her
husband. Mr. Sagsvold had been a
resident in the hills many yems and
while in the western part took sole
care of his aged mother. After
his marriage Mr. Sagsvold moved
to the south Horse Heaven and
made his home there the last few
years. His devotion to his wife and
step-children is one of the things

The grange meeting Friday evening
drew quite a large attendance and
was the scene of quite a bit of hi
larity. This was due to the fact
that the members drew names for
the different officw and then
dressed accordingly, men taking
ladies' parts and ladies the men's
There was some comment as to' the

comely young ladies. The lecturer
D. L. Hensen, in a clinging orange
gown, gave a very interesting pro
gram. The acting home economiw
chairman, Math Swanson, treated
the group to turkey with mem

ed her little niece as a house guest

Keep Grosscup Crewßusy
RICHLAND—Thad Grosscup has
a large crew busy this week plant
ing peas. They are planting forty
acres on the Grosscup ranch and
about thirty acres on the Hanby
farm. Last week Grosscup had a
crew busy day and night planting
fifty acres of mint.
Adolph Johnson. who has been
living on the Grosscup ranch for
the past year moved this week to
the J. W. Caldwell farm north of
Richland.
Mr. and Mrs. Lauren McGhan and
children spent Sunday visiting at
the D. Reinhart home in Pasco.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgie Vandine are
the parents of a son born Sunday
at the Pasco hospital.
Mrs. Wayne Thompson of Yaki
ma is visiting at the home of her
uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Vic
Nelson.

itors Sunday at Paterson. Lauren
Clark. who is attending the Cascade
College at Portland will arrive home
Saturday to spend his spring vaca

White Bluffs.
