does the greater part of the commercial electric
lighting and power business, and, outside of the
City of Seattle, does substantially all of the
street and interurban railway business in the
Puget Sound district, including the cities of
Seattle, Tacoma, Bellingham and Everett, serv
ing an estimated population of more than 600,-
000 in 160 communities.
The notes offered for sale are a direct obli
gation of the company. The current assets are
more than sufficient to pay all of the current
liabilities and these notes "when issued. The
notes come ahead of the $14,793,000 of Pre
ferred stock and $20,128,000 of Common stock.
The notes have coupons attached, represent
ing the 8% interest, which are payable semi
annually on the first day of March and
September. The coupons may be cashed at
any bank in the Puget Sound district. The
company pays the normal Federal income tax
on the interest earned up to 2%.
