November 20— (By airmail)—Sharp accusations have been_ leveled by Polish au thorities at the officers and crew of the Swedish train ferry “Drottning Victoria" (“Queen Vic toria"), which maintains traffic between Sweden and the Polish port city of Gdynia. The accusa tions state that Swedish officials have helped in the smuggling of Poles out of the country, among them the lawyer Stefan Korbon sky, right-hand man of the Polish peasant leader, Mikalajczyk, who also fled Poland and is now in the United States. Mr. Korhonsky and his wife ar rived some time ago in Sweden and are now in England. The head of the Polish foreign office press department, by the name of Grosz, claims that the officers of the ferry knew that Korbonsky was aboard. The Swe d i sh Consul in Gdansk. Torsten Bergendahl, has been declared persona non grata. and the Swedish Minister in War saw, C. A. Westring. on November 17 was summoned to the Polish Foreign Minister who handed him a note in which Mr. Bergendahl‘sl ‘recall was demanded. It also in formed Swedish authorities that the officers of the ferry, as well as certain other Swedish merchant marine Officers, no longer are per lmitted to enter a Polish harbor. !It was because of this that the }ferry, having received a wireless iorder from the Swedish Foreign Office, on November 18 returned to Sweden although only a few miles from Gdynia. A Swedish ship's chandler, who has been ar ‘frested by the Polish authorities. is supposed to have confessed his lshare in certain smuggling opera— ‘ tions. Minister Westring has informed the Polish Foreign Office that Consul Bergendahl will be recalled which. however, does not in any way imply that the accusations against him are justified. The diplomat has left for Sweden for consultations with the Foreign Of fice in Stockholm. For the time being. ferry connection between Sweden and Poland is halted. The Swedish Government has stated, through Mr. \Vestring. that it can not hold itself responsible for any smuggling of Poles that may be carried on by Swedish seamen. Deliveries to Russia STOCKHOLM— (By airmail ) — Sweden's deliveries to Russia will probably be delayed by the lack of labor and electric power. according to Harald Quistgaard. noted businessman and naval ex pert. Speaking at a meeting in Stockholm of the Mekan Society. a technical group, he said that the Swedish foreign exchange situa tion is now so strained that hard currency can be allotted for the import of machinery only in what is termed “catnstrophy cases." Re garding the Swedish-Russian treaty, he stated that within the frame of the credit agreement, or derzhave been placed for a sum of -40 million kronor. of which arm-tings and Best “'Ishos— B O N E L L ' S l C E C R E A M P A R L O R 3 ll Callow N., Phone 1536 Bremerton , Enet ' In Bremerton’s Leading Hotel “1', L.
