American News Men Honored Fifteen American journalists have been awarded the Norwegian Medal of St. Olav in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Norway’s cause during the years of German occupation from 1940 to 1945. On Friday, October 29th, the recipients were honored at a Norwegian Embassy recep tion in Washington. D. C., at which time Norwegian Ambassador Wil helm Morgenstierne presented the decorations on behalf of King Haakon of Norway. Journalists receiving the Medal of St. Olav included the following: John C. Metcalf. Drew Pearson, James B. Reston, Arthur Sweet ser, Blair Bolles, Nat S. Finney. Anatol Visson, Ernest Findley, Ed ward Weintal, Carroll Kenworthy. Paul Wooton, Alexander Sherman, William R. Laue, Thomas F. Rey nolds and Herbert Elliston. By The Way— Oslo reports that for the first time since liberation, the exodus from country to city has passed its peak, and that now more peo ple are moving out of town than are coming in. Principal reason is said to be the urban housing short age. Some 425,000 permanent and 25,000 temporary residents are crowded into the Norwegian capi tal. There are homes, schools. hos pitals, and communications for 350,000. Swedish Religios Film Brought To US The first importation for church showings in this country of a fea ture motion picture produced in a. foreign country, is announced by the Reverend William L. Rogers. executive secretary of The Religious Film Association, New York. an interdenominational lg ency of the major Protestant gmups. The film, entitled "I Am With You.” was filmed on location in Africa. by Studio Films, lead ing Stockholm motion picture com. pany, under the nuspicea of the Lutheran State Church 0! Sweden. Made with a professional cost and director. as well as native Af ricans. “I Am With You" has just ended a. long run in a large theater in Stockholm, and is now playing in the provinces. The picture was ‘fllmed in Southern Rhodesia in the authentic surroundings of a mis sion station maintained by the Swedish Church at a village named Mnene. The cast includes many popular Swedish screen artists. among them the veteran Victor Seastrom. once a Hollywood di rector. and Rune Lindstrom. who produced and acted in the highly successful Swedish i’olk drama, “A Road that Leads to Heaven," Holiday Greetings To All! g C 1}“ , 7?? May Confiscate Flagstad Fortune The Norwegian State's case against the estate and heirs of the late Henry Johansen is scheduled to come before the Oslo Court of Assize on February 1, 1949, with Government att'orneys demanding confiscation of funds totalling $3,400,000. Confiscations of $450.- 000 will he demanded from the late collaborator's heirs including his wife, Mrs. Kirsten Flagstad Johan sen and four children. The estate of the deceased, all companies and individuals. will be charged with unlimited responsibility for deal ings with the enemy during the occupation of Norway which in volved deliveries of wood and tim both on the stage and on the screen. Among the highlights are scenes showing tribal customs and authentic portrayals of native life. The Broadway opening is ex pected to take place early in De cember. For church showings here a new English language sound track has been substituted for the Swedish dialogue. The voices of well known New York and stage and radio artists will be used in the American version. The orig inal music. hOWever, one of the major attractions of the film. has been retained.
