Lundberg, head of the University of 'Washington Department of Sociology. has been selected by the University of Min nesota to receive that institution's Outstanding Achievement Medal for high eminence and distinction in the field of sociology. Dr. Lundberg received the medal this week in Minneapolis in a cere mony marking the University of Minnesota‘s centennial. Dr. Lund berg, head of the university’s so ciology department since 1945. re ceived his doctor's degree at the University of Minnesota in 1925. Dr. Lundberg is born of Swedish parents in this country and speaks Swedish \fluently. He visited Swe den about a year ago. where he lectured and made a study of SW», den‘s social and economic reforms. It was the first Seattle victory over a Cana dian team in this type of soccer. The Scandinavians thus can boast the most brilliant season in Viking Club history. for Sunday‘s events but climaxed a series of championship contests in whicn the Vikings emerged victorious in every single one. including the Washington and Pacific Northwest championships. The season is over now and the boys will get some needed rest from play. Attempts to secure the appear ance of Stockholm's famous AIK team seemed to have failed. ac cording to word received here. Heiskanen, internation ally-famous Finnish geologist has been working with for 30 years Professor Heiskanon is in Seattle on special invitation from the University of Washington. ”Of course, the movement of mountains is not visibly percepti— ble," he said. “The sea upon which they float. the earth's crust. is rigid. Therefore the rate of flow is quite low. but nevertheless the mountains are floating." One of the first men to measure the diameter of the earth.
