Norwegian People
Dr. Ole Gundersen. of the Nor
wegian Public Health Directorate,
recently concluded a comprehen
sive survey of polio cases in Nor
way during the past 50 years. Vis
iting practically every distrirt of
the country, he has personally ex
amined about 4.500 patients. or
more than 379} of the total re
ported to health authorities.
The investigation shows a great
variation in the extent and dura-
tion of post-polio treatment. Thus.
patients in .Southern Norway have
had more ready access to post
treatment than those in the north.
ei‘n provinces. In his conclusions.
Dr. Guindersen indicates that hos
pital facilities for polio sufferers
should be increased by 100 beds
beyond the planned additions.
Of the total examined. 350; have
suffered slight or no lasting in
jury: about 10", show considerable
injury: and the balance is evenly
distributed between the two ex
tremes. Polio has in i'evont years
shown a tendency to attack older
age groups. During the past three
years. Norwegian Red Cross has
sent more than 200 polio patients
to Denmark for post-treatment.

color film, a puppet story called
“Music in the Attic." He will soon
start on another film. also on a
puppet theme.
Norsk Film A/S further has
completed several documentaries.
including “In Good Hands," de
picting the care of feebleminded
children. and juvenile comedy, with
music by Gunnar Sbnstevold.
The domestic market for high
quality Norwegian films appears
to be fairly good. The all-Nor
wegian production "We Are Get
ting Married." which had its pre
miere in January, has so far
grossed 1.2 million kroner. and is
likely to reach the 2 million mark
before long. If so. “We Are Get
ting Married" will have passed
proceeds from the famous “Heavy
Water" film, so far in a class by
itself among Norwegian film pro
ductions.

Per Pérsson, for the last eight
years American correspondent for
Svenska Dugbladet, has returned
to Sweden via Scandinavian Air
lines. He will serve on the editorial
staff in Stockholm. His post has
been taken by Alfred Oste.
