July 0, Monday being a legal holiday, the board met this day in regular ses sion. Present: F. A. Sherwood (chairman). S. E. Kurtz and D. W. Casey, commissioners. This session was devoted to the examination of the returns of district assessors. On motion the board adjourned un til "J p. in. Afternoon Session. Hoard met pursuant to adjourn ment. Present Commissioners Kurtz, Volk, Casey and Fischer. Mr. Kurtz was elected chairman pro tempore. Rids received in compliance with advertisement therefor were opened and found to be as follows: John Swanson, for gradng road in Township 135, Range To, 2: cents per cubic yard, and Township KM, Range 7is, 17 cents per cubic yard. '4 Rids for furnishing a traction en gine. with necessary help to run the same and haul the county road grader, were: a & Walter Krick, $40.00 per day. lirif. Pritchard, $10.00 per day. Roehus Ell, $.'35.00 per day. A. L. Rridell, .$40.00 per day. On motion of Mr. Fischer, second ed by Mr. Casey the contract for furnishing traction engine was awarded to Rochus Ell, he being the lowest and best bidder. $ $ $ $ $ & On motion of Mr. Casey, seconded by Mr. Volk. John Swanson's bid for grading roads was accepted, he being the only bidder. $ John Stiles, with a large delega tion of taxpayers from Winona dis trict, appeared before the board rel ative to the closing of the road long traveled across the N. E. pi 11 DOS. On motion the auditor was in structed to issue him a refunding or der for $7.0:i, amount of taxes paid. Hi pleas- On motion the board adjourned until 8 a. in. Teiupel and twenty eight others received, praying that Charles DeWitt be appointed a jus tice of the peace, was denied for the reason of no vacancy existing. Attorney Charles Coventry pre sented the petition of F. J. McCon ville and others calling attention to the unsafe condition of the bridge on Cattail creek between Sections 16 and 21-131-78, and praying that the board inspect the same and make it safe. The board checked up the books and accounts of the county treasurer and found the sum of $40,545.05 due the county, which amount was duly accounted for. The board checked up the reports of fees collected for the quarter ending June 30, 1909, which were found to be as follows: Register of Deeds ../£ .. .$ 790 10 Clerk of Court 310 62 County Auditor 37 50 On motion the board adjourned until 2 p. m. Afternoon Session. The board met pursuant to ad journment. All members present. Henry Gravink and others ap peared before the board with a peti tition for a road to be laid out in Township 129, Range 77, connect ing with a road projected in Camp bell county. Mr.Volk was elected chairman pro tempore. The bid of E. D. Fogle for build ing concrete abutments under the bridge between Sections 20 and 20 130-77 was opened and found to be $220, this being the only bid for this work. On motion the bid was re jected, being deemed too expensive for this bridge. On motion Mr. Fisher was authorized to repair said bridge, using cedar poles. Petition of George S.
