Arthur Pitts left Saturday for a few weeks stay at Minneapolis. Frank Scott and family were up from the Dale country Tuesday. B. R. Sturtevant was a caller iu Linton from*.the Dale country yes-1 terday. Born—Thursday, Feb. 2d, to Mr. and Mrs. Christ. Christenson, a son. All well. Jakob Rieker sold his meat-market to H. Huether, who recently arrived from Java, S. D. Miss Alena Tough went to Eureka yesterday in the interests of her millinery business. The Fifth annual ball of the K. of P. will be held at the Turner opera house on Feb. 22nd. The Macabees will give their an ual masquerade dance at the opera house on Feb. 14th. A Masquerade skating party will be given at the opera-house on the evening of Feb. 18th. Mr. Frank Butler and son Jule, were callers in Linton last Friday from the Braddock country. Wm. Waudby and Samuel Solmon son were up from the Winona coun try yesterday after seed grain. The Linton Bazar has been mak ing extensive improvments to tho interior of their store the past week. Dr. R. Hogue has been under the weather the past week with the grip. He was not however confined to his bed. Andreas Richter was up from the Winona country Saturday coming via Strasburg [and the Milwaukee from there. H. A. Paskie left yesterday morn ing for Jamestown where he expects to secure employment on the N. 1'. railway line. If you want your suit pressed or cleaned call on W. W. Mewing, or phone 27—3. All work guaran teed satisfactory. Alvin Atha, six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Atha, was threat ened with pneumonia this week, but is rapidly recovering. Jakob Rieker, who has had a se vere case of blood-poisoning in his right arm, informs us that that member is much improved The three-year-old son of Steven Anderson, living ten miles east of Linton, was so sick the past week as to need the services of a physi cian. Robert, the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chesrown, is very ill with typhoid fever. To-day Dr. Hogue re ports the little fellow somewhat better. For Sale—Two fresh milch cows, one span of horses, harness, wagon, buggy, heavy bob sled and all kinds of haying tools. Wm. Kaven, Linton, N. D. Mrs. John Gellner of Brofy is suffering from blood-poisoning. Dr. Wolverton has been called there sev eral times this week and reports his patient much improved. Tom O'Bien is unloading to-day a car of corn, also a car of oats in ele vator. Tom has a car of White Rus sian seed oats absolutly, clean and free of wild-oats. Call and see. Charles Richardson, who is work ing in a restaurant at Mandan, came down Saturday evening to vis it with his folks at Old Winchester over Sunday. He returned to Man dan Monday. If you have any good seed grain, you shonld send a sample to the State Experiment Station, stating how much you have and the price you want for it. Your name will be list ed and sent to those who ask for good seed. Uo not waste your time in sow ing new seed varieties (except on a small tract as an experiment) un less your State Experiment Station recommends them. You cannot af ford to take chances. Let the Exper iment Station do the testing of varieties and learn the results from them. Floyd Atha returned Monday from a two weeks visit at Orton vilie, Minn. Clark McKitrick, who has been in bed with a broken leg since the automobile accident near Strasburg several weeks ago, is now able to be on his feet a while each dav. Dr. Wolverton was called Tuesday to the home of Fred Waleher. twelve miles northeast of Linton, where he found Mr. Walcher suffering with a severe case of inflammatory rheu matism. At present he is somewhat improved. Robert Liversa.ee nf the' Lotran district left last Friday noon "for Spencer, S. D.. where he I pack the household goods of his mother preparatory to bringing the family to this county. Mr. Liversage has a claim in Logan district. Head his ad else where in this issue. Mr. Wen who has been farming in the Marie coun try leased his land to Christian Pai liet, a neighbor. Supt H. H. Hanson informs us that he is making eti'orts toward having a three-week's summer school this year in place of the reg ular one- week institute. My com bining with other counties this can easily be done and teachers can then take up wurk that will give them standings on certificates This is done by many counties and has proved a success and it is hoped that the same result may be secured here. All others in the county be sides teachers are welcome to at tend. The evergreens require much less moisture than the other trees. Prof. C. M. Waldron, of the North Dakota agricultural college, states that the bull pine requires but one sixth as much. It is also a native of the state. The white spruce, a very pretty tree grows way up into Canada. So both of these trees are hardy in the state. Why not try some of them. No tree makes a place'more homelike than the tree that is green the year round. Pro vide a wind break for the ever greens. Instead of giving too much atten tion to the cook, about your own welfare, have some consideration for your faithful workhorses. Hanson ami Albert Tough attended a party given by the teach ers in the vicinity of Strasburg at Strasburg Saturday evening. Many of the schools soon close and this was a farewell party. VS'e wish the youn^ man a prosperous business in his new lield. On Tuesday evening of this week, at tile home of the Rev. and Mrs. A. A. lioschee of this city, occurred the marriage of Mr. Christian Reiser of Wa.-hburn, this state, to Miss Luisa Kayser of Linton, the Rev. lioschee performing the ceremony. After the ceremony, at S o'clock, the young couple and a few of the invit ed guests and relatives of the con tracting party sat down to a sump tuous wedding dinner which was prepared bv Mrs. lioschee. The groom is a young fanner from near Washburn, lie has been in this country for about three years, hav ing come from Russia. The bride is a sister of Mrs. lioschee and has been making her home with the lat ter Lit.ton for some time past. Mr. and Mrs. Reiser will make their future home on tile farm of the groom. We wish them Cod's rich blessings and a happy and sue c?ssful journey through life. Bismarck Tribune One of the junketing committees which was busy during the recess was compos ed of Representative Streeter and Senators Carter and Trimble, and tin visited tile hriquelting plant at lleoroii. Mr. Streeter is very en thusiastic over the future of the lignite industry in the state and stau that he is assured afltr being at Hebron ami witnessing the work that is being done there thai the fo rm. rcial success of lignite when ioimed into briquettes is assured. He also slates that it is possible to gel the inside of the ".alter only after a visit to Hebron and personal investigation of the plant and the methods of work employed by the gentlemen in charge of the plant. He thinks there is no limit to the development of the state along man ufacturing lines with the unlimited lignite beds from which may lie drawn the power to drive the ma chinery of the factories that will in no distant future be dotting what is now the prairie state of North Da kota.
