Yolk, one day last week. Alois Phillips closed his second year of successful school in the Strasburg public schools, Friday. Mr. Phillips is again re-eleted aa principal of our shools for the en suing year. These boys should continue school long enough to finish the eighth grade, and have the honor of being the first graduates of Strasburg. Lvery boy and girl should at least finish the eighth grade, which we call a common school education. Rev. F. Clemet, of Mandan, visit ed with Rev. M. Speckmeier a few days last week. Rev. Clement spoke very highly of our grand church and excellent parochial school. He raid that the people of Strasburg can be justly proud of their worthy pastor, Rev. Speckmeier. A class of 88 boys and girls cele brated their first communion in the St. Peter and Paul's church here Sunday, May 26th. Rev. Max Speckmeier, our able pastor, gave very touching and instructive ser mon. The singing of the choir, conducted by the Ursuline Sisters, was excellent and the Strasburg Cornet Band also rendered a few hymns during services. Much cred it is due Rev. Speckmeier and the Sisters for their untiring efforts training the children under their charge. BRADDOCK BREVITIES. (News, May 30.) You can hear the grass grow. Mesdames Savage and Clarke re turned the first oftheeek from the speaking tour throughout the southern part of the county in the interest of the tatter's candidacy bounty superintendent of schools. Mrs. J. F.Snyder, of Hazelton. visited friends in Brsddock Friday last. "5! Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanson came up from Linton Friday to attend the closing exercises of the Braddock schools. The rain Monday night and Tues day was one of the heaviest of the season, and insures a bounteous crop for the Braddock district. From the looks of some ot th back alleys and yards, it looks as though a small "clean up" move tnent would not come amiss in Brad dock. Miss Lucile McCullen. returned to her home at Underwood, Wednes day, after a successful term of school. While in Braddoek Miss McCullen made many warm friends. Mrs. P. McHugh, one of the well known society women of Bismarck, who has been the guest of her daughter, Mrs. J. D. McCusker, of this city, returned home Friday last after a short visit with her daughter and family here. Senator H. W. Allen, Louis M. Correspondence of the Record. (June 3.) Mrs. C. Lewis, of Braddock, has been in town sewing for Mrs. Davis the past week. Rev. A. M. Wiley will preach in the school-house on Sunday, June 9, 1912, at 3 p. m. Our merchant, U. Schatz. Sr., made a business trip to Mandan on Monday, the 3rd. Quite a number from town attend ed Memorial Day exercises at Lin ton on Thursday. Mr. Walter Dodd returned hoine Tuesday night from Iowa, where he was called by the death of his sister. Miss Mabel Morton and ICiss Ethel Seeley, from east of town, were guests of Mrs. DeWitt over Sunday. Dr. C. O. Smith, the Linton dent ist, was doing business in our little burg Tuesday and says he will come again. We neglected to mention the fact that our flour mill at Temvik has been making flour agian the past three weeks. Mr. A. E. Chambers was shaking hands with his old friends in Temvik on Tuesday evening. He left Wednesday over the N. P. for his home in Washington. R. E. Holm and Franz Temple ac companied Chris Bieber to Bismarck on Tuesday of last week to attend a meeting of the M. B. A. lodge at that place. The trip was made in Mr. Beiber's auto. They returned the next day. SCHOOL NOTES. Leonard Zunkel is still absent on account of illness. Hontz Temple was absent Friday on account of work. Miss Mabel Morton visited the primary room Monday morning. The Misses Maud and Mabel Ben edict visited the upper grades Mon day afternoon. Fred Schatz has been absent since Tuesday last because of sickness caused from dental work. Miss Rachel Davis left school last week.
