No land shall be sold fur less than the appraised value, and in no case fi.-r less than ten dol lars per acre. The purchaser shall pay one-fifth of the urice in cash, and the remaining four-fifths as follows: tr H. I VL Miss Emma Anvig met with a painful accident last week while assisting her father to lift a hay rack on a wagon. The heavy rack slipped from their grasp and fell, one corner striking Miss Anvig's right foot, and a bolt sticking through the rack going entirely through the foot, indicting an ugly Wound. She was brought to town and had the injury dressed by a physician. Jf no complications set in, the wountl is not thought tu be of a serious nature. Several of the young ladies about town are getting up a leap-year hall for the evening of November 1st. It is to be a leap-year affair clear through. The girls are the ones to bear all the burdens usually inflicted upon the male beings in a social event such as getting uu courage to ask the fellows to go going to the house and waiting for the young men to comb their hair, powder, put on heir best duds, etc. Each young lady will also have to pay the ad missjoniee, take her beau tn supper, and pay him the proper attention while at the ball,so that he won't be too much of a wall-flower.
