Ul University Minstrels Go Over With Bang • Wolf Hall Crowded When Univer- ; sity Boys Put on Show it has been a long time since such a in Wolf large crowd has gathered Hall as was there on last Thursday j night when the minstrel show under the auspices of the Varsity and Foot lights Clubs was staged. ; To say the show was a success is to j put it mildly. If anyone left Wolf Hall after that performance with the , "blues" they can rest assured that said "blues" are going on through life with them. It was a "blues" dis pelling performance and it went over with a bang. The show opened with a skit staged by Givan and Christfield, as golfer flapper, this went big and was a good laugh producer. Next on the program was Aubrey Travers, who cleverly protrayed a girl of grandmother's type, with hoop skirts "and everything." Daly, Brandt and Ivory came next and they staged a "wrestling match a la cinema eight times as slow." "Cliff" Smith and Donalson enter tained with well accepted musical numbers. Jim Deputy gave a vocal selection. a Then came the minstrel show with its end men and circle. Then also did the fun begin and keep going until the final curtain. To say that any special person's performance was the feature of the evening would be an injustice to all the other members of the cast for everyone went big and another per formance of the show would not astray. go URGES CO-OPERATION Dean McCue Wants Business Men to Help Farmers Making a strong plea for co-opera tion between the country town busi ness man and the farmer, Dean C. V CONTROL OF PEACH BORER, IMPORTANT STEP FORWARD I New Jersey is making much head I way in the total destruction of the ; peach tree borer. The experiments made so far by the state agricultural experiment station at New Bruns wick have given such excellent re su ^ s that more extensive experiments conducted and these experi ments will be confined to peach trees —it now appears thatthe round and flat-head apple tree borers can be overcome with the same treatment j ; j employed f° r the peach borer and it authoritatively stated by the sta , ^ on cherries, blackberries and plums, particularly the first and last, respond to 100 per cent control of the same borer that attacks and destroys peach trees. Here is what the station has to say about experiments so far conducted over a period of two seasons, ^he fall of 1920 and 21 and some spring ex periments May 1: "Our experiments and observations made in 100 or more orchards throughout New Jersey permit us to recommend the use of p. c. benzine for the control of the peach tree borers in trees six years of age or older. "Furthermore, our observations to date show that one-half ounce of p. c. benzine may be used (when the soil temperature is not too high, not above seventy degrees Fahrenheit) on trees 3 to 5 years of age for two or three weeks with comparative safety. "We are not recommending its on trees of this age, for we wish to have another season's experience with p. c. benzine before we make a definite recommendation. "Treatment of trees younger than 3 years of age is still in experimental stage, consequently no statement be made concerning these. Also the control of peach tree borers in plum and cherry trees and flat-headed pie tree borers in apple trees, and blackberry crown borers in blackberry and raspberry bushes is subject to further experiments. Further information in other ques tions pertaining to p. c. benzine for the control of the pea^ch tree borer will be found in circular 126 of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station. use can ap ENCOURAGING FRUIT REPORT BY GROWER State Senator Orlando Harrison, of Worcester County, Md., who has large fruit interests in both Delaware and Maryland, recently declared, after a careful investigation of the fruit dition, that it is his opinion that the crop of late apples and peaches will produce 100 per cent yield.
