Something About Drei«. It hu been many years sines but few except the wealthy were able to dress In a fashionable manner, with goods composed of line material. All clothing at-that time was made by customer tailors, and ready made suits were almost unknown. FI no goods were not made in this country, and the consequence was that a work man or mechanic found it impossible, with his limited means to dross as well his wealthy neighbor, llut in time there came a revolution, the sums ns there has been in all other business and duced which cloths, as line and fully equal to the imported were, through Yankee Ingenuity, manufactured by machinery and sold at a reasons bio price. The ready-made clothing business became an Institution which having once ob tained a foothold soon demonstrated that it had come to stay, and it grow and inereusod^until there was scarcely a!olty, town or village in tlie United States where there was not a clothing store. In which purchasers could liud anything needed. One of the pioneers In the business In this city was Mr. J. T. Mullin, who came here from West Chester and opened an unpretentions establish ment on Fonrth street. By fuir deal ing and not using the slightest decep tion In reference to anything, ho soon built up a business which obliged him to Beek more commodious quarters. Ho then located iu a part of what then known as the Savillo building at Sixth and Market streets, llut tho business still continued to grow, and In a little time he was obliged to tuke the store on the corner and moi go It Into the the store In the r still even this proved insufficient and the second and fourth stories were mured for the business. The second floor wits fitted up as u department for customer work, and the fourth lloor as a work-room for the employes. After tho death of Mr. «Saville tho building, which was offered for salo, purchased by .Mr. Mullin, wiio, ho needed all tho room, immediately notified the Shields' Library Associa tion, which occupied the third Moor, to varato, which they did iu the ensuing spring. About this tlmo, tho son, John Mul lin, was admitted to partnership, and sinco then tho business has bee under the lirm-name of J. T.
