Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Hunu, parents of Ezekiel liuun, the I'hiludelphia criin iual lawyer, celebrated their sixoy-hfth wedding anniversary at Wildcat Manor the beautiful country home of the Uunn family, near Dover Saturday. The celebration, though of quaint und ostentatious character, was remarkable from the fact that it was the anniver sary of this couple's wedding day. It was held uuder the shade of n mummoth tree planted by the bride and groom on the day of their marriage in 1836. Just beside this big tree stands a smaller one, also a line imported tree, planted wedding day of Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Hunn, 2nd. Young Mr. Ezekiel Hunn, 3rd, was a participant in the festivities. He, with ihs parents, are residents of Philadelphia. The only invited guests were the daughters of Dr. E. W. Cooper long on the of Camden, who also rc. line of Kent county settlers. Mr. Hunu, with his weight of 92 years, is scarcely able to leave his bed except in the mildeaGweather, but Mrs. Hunn, only four years his junior, is still the possessor of a graceful carriage and a most brilliant mind, being one of tho best informed and best authorities among Deluware women. Richard Johnson, colored, resid ing near Middletown, was lodged in jail last evening by Constable Collins of Middletown, in default of $2000 bail for his appearance at court to answer the charge of at tempted murder. In the petition Mr. Cannon alleges that in the First and Fourth districts of the Department of Elections by the election officers or said districts some 20 disputed ballots, 15froir, the First district and the remaining 11 ballots from the Fourth district. He alleges that if these particular disputed ballots had been counted ac cording to the true and real intent of the voters he would have a majority of 4 votes. Mr. Stewart moved to lay the pe tition on the table indefinitely, which was voted down Mr. Smith moved to have the petition received and filed Mr. Stewart said something about the election officers when Mr. Smith said he was out of order as they not trying the case. J., July 1.—The famous Allenhurst Inn, one of the finest appointed hostelries iu the country', was completely destroyed by fire tonight, and the loss will foot up $300,000 and perhaps more. The fire caught in the west basement un der the dining room in the bell boys' quarters. A can of subcorrosive sub limate used for cleaning purposes ex ploded in the servants'quarters, and in an instant the rooms were in a blaze. The flames were confined at first to the basement of the old build ing along which they ran with tre mendous power. Telephone messages for aid were sent in every direction. The alarm wag given in Asbury Park and re sponded to by all the companies. Wo fire engines or hose companies could save the doomed building, the blazing monster, creeping along the rafters and rising upward, spreading from room to room with lightning velocity until a great mass of fire burst out in the northwest corner of the building. In the meantime the guests rush ed from the dining room, followed by the waiters, dragging with them the laden tables on which were ail the delicacies displayed, ns i at a lawn Trunks, satchels, valuables of every description were dropped from the rooms above, and even rock ing chairs and furniture were thrown to the ground in the excitement. Several of the guests leaped from the second story on a pile of mat tresses, apparently careless of dan ger and anxious only to escape. E. B. Benjamin, James M. Ralston and others formed themselves into a tire police guard and several attempts at barefaced thievery were promptly stopped by the impromptu guard, whose services in this respect were invaluab.e. party.
