The meeting was largely at tended, and proved most interesting. The second branch met with Miss Amelia Sonna. Cox. Mrs. W. H. Rldenbau. h will give an illustrated lec ture on Japan. The program for this meeting promises to be exceptionally Interesting. All ladies of the parish and others will receive a most cordial welcome. The boys of the Cathedral club are enthusiastic over the establishment of a military department After the lit erary exercises, the members are formed into squads by a competent drill master, and are fast learning military tactics. The archdeacon per mitted them to drill with the rifles for the first time last Tuesday. The boys hope soon to have a flag and a drum. There are a very few more rifles for the boys who may Join the club at the next meeting. Weekly meetings of the Juniors are held in the Bishop Tuttle church house on Monday afternoons. The girls have been much interested in mission study since the Lenten season. The subtect for consideration at present is Chirac FIRST PRESBYTERIAN. Sunday themes; Morning—"A Strategic Time and Place." Junior sermon—"God's Jewels." Evening — "Twilight Talks with Christ." First, "Face to Face." The pastor will lead up to the Easter service with a series of Sunday even ing sermons on the general theme: "Twilight Talks with Christ." The first, "Face to Face,:' will be given tomor row. All are cordially Invited. A special program for the Brother hood has been arranged by the presi dent, C. E. Winstead. The annual meet ing is to be held on Tuesday evening. The young men s class, and other young men are to be the guests of the Broth erhood - It is earnestly desired that all young men connected with the church will attend this meeting and get ac quainted with the members of the Brotherhood, as well as share the social hour. 1 The Woman's Presbyterial Society of Boise Presbytery is to hold its annual meeting in the Presbyterian church of Nampa next Wednesday and Thursday. The opening session will be on Wednes day at 1 p. m. Dinner will be served at 6 p. m. to visiting delegates. A Young Peoples' Conference will follow at 7 p. m.. closing with a popular meet ing at 8 p. m. The speakers of the evening will be Mrs. Gildersleeve, of New York, one of the secretaries of the woman's board, and a most interesting speaker. Dr. Donaldson will also speak on "Christ, the Builder." It is expect ed that there will be delegates pres en^from all women's societies in this region, and from the Endeavor socie ties and the Westminster Guilds. Mrs. Thaxter, secretary of the North Pa cific Woman's Board, will be one of tile speakers and counsellors at the several meetings. The every member canvass, an an nual feature of the financial program of the church, was Instituted last Sun day for the budget of the year begining April 1. Many, men and women par ticipated with auch cordiality that the Work was easily accomplished, canvass will be continued till all mem bers of the church and congregation have had opportunity to make pledges for the support of the local organiza tion, and for its benevolent causes. Al ready a generous response has been made. The If all will conform to this plan It will make special appeals through the year unnecessary, and will meet every obligation of the organiza tion when due. The pastor has been participating In the campaign of the Anti-Saloon league during the past week. As a member of the Idaho Flying Squadron, he spoke at Nampa, Payette, Welser and Em mett There Is little doubt that the state will be well awake to Its privilege and duty when the time comes to vote for the constitutional amendment FIRST METHODIST CHURCH. On Tuesday afternoon the Woman's Foreign Missionary society will enter tain in honor of Miss Laura May Hef ty, a missionary home on furlough, at the home of Mrs. C. C. A., will speak at the young people's meeting Sunday evening at 6:30. Rev. and Mrs. Bissell will be "at home" informally to their friends on Tuesday afternoons and evenings in April at 1221 North Fifteenth street. An informal reception will be given to Rev. and Mrs. Bissell on Wednes day evening, March 29, at 8 o'clock in the church parlors. All members of the church and congregation and other, frieuds are invited. BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES. Our special meetings for the study of the Book of Revelation have been remarkably well attended, the congre gations taxing our seating capacity several evenings. The pastor Is grate ful for the many words of apprecia tion from those who have been helped by the messages, and urges faithful at tendance to the close of thg series. Sllnger will lead the meeting. FIRST OHRISTIAN CHURCH. The pastor will preach two doctrinal sermons. Themes: "What Is Repentance?" Evening, "The Great Confession." The Christian Endeavor society meets at 6:30 p. m. The topic "Great Home Missionaries," will be discussed. Mrs. J. L. Thompson will be the leader. A large attendance Is desired. The subject is one that should Interest every Christian. Morning service. The Curio party given by-the Fifth district of the Aid Wednesday even ing, March 22, at Mr. Farrell's» cm the mesa, was a decided success. About 76 were present. The curios were un usually interesting and Instructive. The program consisted of a vocal solo with violin obligato by the Misses Gram kow, piano solos by Miss Gladys Far rell and Mrs. Hobart, and a well ren dered humorous reading by Miss Ma mie Maise. Delicious refreshments were served. . The funeral services of Mrs. John Coble were held Wednesday, March 23. Mrs. Coble was one of the oldest members of the Christian church in the Boise valley. IMMANUEL METHODIST. Next Sunday rooming the Rev. Dr. J. D. Gillilan, dlstrlfet superintendent of the Boise district will oocupy the pulpit speaking from the theme, "Fixed Stars and Comets." Dr. Gillilan is rapidly becoming one of the most wide ly known men In the church. His re cently published book, "Trail Tales," has had a phenomenal sale, and he is now preparing, at the request of the publishers, the copy for another book covering a period of the early history of Utah, which has hitherto never been written. Such men should not be "without honor," even in their own country, and we bespeak for him a large hearing. Mr. Biggs, Mrs. Farmer and Mrs. Aldrich will sing a trio, and the choir will sing a special arrange ment of "Rock of Ages." In the evening at 7:30 the pastor will preach upon, "The Voice of God." There will be two special musical numbers under direction of Mr. Biggs. Beginning next Sunday, April 2. all of the evening services will be held a half hour later. The pastor has been Invited to deliver an addrese on the Boy Scout Move ment before the State Sunday School convention, which will meet In Boise some time in May. troop has also been asked to put on a practical demonstration of the work. The Immanuel The choir held two rehearsals this week in the preparation of the special Easter music. CASES ARE APPEALED TO SUPREME COURT Two cases involving the twe-mlle limit law wer« appealed yesterday from the district court to the supreme court. The cases were Edgar Kirk versus W. E. Johnson and the same plaintiff versus Ysldro Maderita. Ths cases were tried before a jury In dls trlct court last December and In both instances judgment for the plaintiff was rendered In the sum of $100 and costa. Law pointa Involving the two mile limit law are In question and for that reason the appeal was taken by the sheepmen although the costs are greater than the amount of Judgment awarded.
