Highland pre cinct returns came in last evening and the vote was reported to be eight in favor of the bonds and three against. Joe Plaisted, the well known railroad man and wool buyer, is again in the railroad service and Is now connected with the Milwaukee line as livestock agent. Clarence Nicholas, who was arrest ed yesterday by Chief Parker, upon the charge of disturbing the peace, had a partial hearing this morning and upon his own request It was continued until tomorrow morning. After the witnesses for the state had testified Nicholson requested that Dr. Chalfant be called to testify In his behalf. It Is believed the man Is mentally unbalanced. The case of the Northwestern Liquor company versus E. W. Williams was dismissed by Judge Carl Davis today, a stipulation having been made by the attorneys under which the cross com plaint of the defendant, charging that certain liquor purchased by him was diluted and drugged was also dis missed and It was ordered that the stock held by the sheriff be turned over to the plaintiff. Mrs. McKenna brought suit against the Studebaker company and Mr. Grunbaum because of the death of her husband, who fell down a dark elevator shaft in the Studebaker building, owned by Mr. Grunbaum. Because of Injuries she received Sept. 7, 1915, in an automobile acci dent near Pine, Hester M. Spnckman, a teacher, has filed suit against. Perry Vlrgll and Jessie B. Baker In the sum of $7500. In her complaint she al leges carelessness on the part of Ba ker, the driver of the machine in whlch she was a passenger, and asserts! that he w f ent to sleep or was dozing and drove the machine, off the road and that It turned over pinning her be neath until 6 o'clock in the morning.
