Made famous throughout this section of the country because of the number and value of its gifts and the number of enthusiastic women entered, the Grand Christmas Gift Distribution of the Capital News, the greatest newspaper campaign ever held in this section of the country, will come to a close tomorrow night at 9 o'clock. At this hour it will all be over but the shouting, and the work of notifying the shouters that they are qualified to shout will be left to the judges next Wednesday afternoon at the Christmas Gift department, 718 Idaho street, starting at 2:30 o'clock. The count will be public and candidates and their friends are invited to be present. Work without rest from NOW until the close is the portion the candidates have picked out for themselves, and w r e feel that there will be many sur prises sprung by these enthusiastic ;ho are striving with might and ones, main and marshaling their forces for These the final battle tomorrow, eleventh-hour workers are surely hust ling like beavers, and it will take many a vote to outstrip them at the finish. Rumors of how many votes such and such a candidate has will be rife to morrow, but these should be consid ered as just what they are—MERELY RUMORS. No candidate should al low' anything she hears to affect her work, .or these rumors will prove to be In most cases absolutely unfound ed. For all this department knows some of the candidates who were ap parently not in the running when the last votes were counted, may have gathered enough votes in the ensu ing tim- to place them in prominent, positions. And then again, they may still be in the "also-ran" class, vague uncertainty has beclouded the situation and many a candidate will not know what a close shave she had to losing until the final count Is made and she realizes that it wae the last little subscription she secured that saved her from defeat. Every lndi A cation points to a terribly close race and v ith the candidates enthused to an extreme pitch, they are going to land, as they have been doing, every possible subscription before the closing minute. Even the friends and fami lies of candidates are worked up to a great degree of excitement and are hustling one and all for the success of their favorite candidates, whom they hope to see named as winners of the splendid Chalmers, Bulck, Overland, Maxwell and Chevrolet 1917 touring . , Get the subscriptions In early and you will still have time to spend in getting a few more. What better gift could you send to the absent friends, the ones from home, than The Capital News for one year, beginning with the New Year's Issue. These people are in terested in Boise, most of them having been former residents, and would ap preciate he live news of the Idaho capital far more than you perhaps realize. The Capital News at $6 for an ;ntire year, wo Id be a practical, appreciated gift'and besides the sub scription given this week would en able. some earnest woman to make her Christmas the happiest of her life time, as It would help her to win one of the splendid 1917 touring cars Which will be won tomorrow nightfl. vay SATURDAY A BIG DAY IN CAMPAIGN. It is also well to turn in any subscriptions you may have, early as possible this week. Saturday will be a big day and if you turn yours in now you will be certain that they are in the sealed ballot box and no one will have any knowledge of what you have, as the box is sealed and will not Lo opened again until next Wednesday afternoon, when the judges start the final count- THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE IN WAITING UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. A ' new subscriber is one who was not taking the paper on October 16th, when 1 lbe campaign opened, and an old sub scr i ber i s one who 7 as taking the pa per on that date. This is a flat rule and tbcre arc no exceptions, one member of the family to another Chang inK name of the subscriber from at the same address; stopping one pa • per and starting another, etc., do not make OLD subsciiptlons NEW, and -candidates are cautioned to atch this all sub old important detail closely, i Äoriptioii« arc verified, and subscriptions turned in as a any new this week, will have the votes issued on them cancelled. This rule is made nec essary ln order to be fair to all and to keep our records straight. This is sufficient warning to every candidate, and there should be no misunderstand ings.
