EXISTENCE OE STATE COUNCIL NOW JUSTIFIED Official Bulletin of State Or ganization Assured That There Is Big Work Before It in Idaho. Provost Marshal Crowder Issues Call Which Has Been Transmitted to the County Organizations Urging Draft Be Helped. The existence of the state council of defense Is justified, for through Its or ganization co-ordination Is being brought about with the various coun ties through the county councils. This Is the-belief of the council as ex pressed In this week's Issue of the Of ficial Bulletin which also contains a call from the provost marshal asking all county councils to assist In enforc ing the second draft. It says In part: EXISTENCE JUSTIFIED. "Reports made by county council or ganizers to the state council of de fense make It very apparent that the existance of the latter Is Justified. The people of Idaho, apparently, have been hoping that Just such a statewide campaign as that inaugurated by the council would be started. They arç and have been anxious to do some part toward bringing about a successful conclusion in the present war. What was lacking was the directing force— and the proper <?o-operatlve and co ordinating factors. "Wear-Ever" utensils store up a large amount of heat and hold it a long time. The heat quickly "runs" throughout the utensil —it does not collect in one spot and burn food — it cooks food evenly and thoroughly from the sides as well as from the bottom. Therefore, IF LOW HEAT IS USED, you need not stir the food. Burnt food is a sign that you have used more fuel than is neces sary — or that the food has cooked too long and has become dry. In every part of the state where members of the state council labored, they found the same deep sentiment, a desire on the part of the Individual and community to do their bit effectively. Within a short time there will be In existance 41 county councils—auxiliaries of the state cotincll. It Is then that the state council will be able to carry out the extensive plans it has formulated. "The existence of this deep patriot ism on the part of the people Is not at all a surprise to the state council. It hah always existed In Idaho. It Is the Idaho spirit. The desire to make, a sacrifice Is contagious. The willing sacrifices of a few offer an example which the many soon follow. Every man or woman who Is engaged In pa triotic work In the state of Idaho la making a willing sacrifice. The bur den Is one that all can help to bear. Those not making sacrifices at the present time should be Induced to help In the task of preparing Idaho for the test that Is to come as the nation be comes more deeply Involved In the present war with a cruel and atrocious enemy. The auxiliary county councils will have occasion from time to time to call for assistance from those within their community radius. There should be no shirking when the call comes. The state council of defense doe» not believe there will be." AID LOCAL DRAFT BOARDS. Provost Marshal General Crowder has Issued the following call to the state and county councils of defense urging them to get back of the local boards In the task of classifying the nation's man power, copies of which have been received by the Idaho state council of defense and are released for publication: "County and city councils of defense, chambers of commerce, and other civic organizations have In many cases of fered, their services to local and dis trict boards In obtaining voluntary clerical service and In facilitating the duties of such boards. Local and dis trict boards should encourage such of fers and should co-operate with such councils as far as consistent with their dutieB under the law and regulations. "There is In every city—In every hamlet almost— a council of defense. These organizations ware built to help the nation In Its emergency. This la their opportunity. Everywhere there are men who need help In the prepara tion of their questionnaires. The legal advisory boards will be the central ad visory committee. They will need men to go Into ths homes and factories. Meetings should bs organized, posters should be displayed, lists should be prepared, all looking to the help of the man and the quickening of the nation's man power into action. "There are thousands of defense com mittees and hundreds of thousands of members. I am confident that as a re sult of this call every local board will be aided In its efforts and every dis trict, no matter how remote, will be visited. The 20 days following Dec. 15 should find every patriot on duty." MINING BLANKS.
