As will be noted by reading the ad vertisements published elsewhere the State offeis for sale, on Dec. 29th, a number of tracts ot school lands sit uated In this county. Many buyers seem eager to bid on these lands and the sale will be attended with inter est. One feature not to be overlook ed is the fact that any one person, company or corporation is not per mitted to purchase over 160 acres. T here was a largo and enthusiastic gathering of the militia of Company •*E'', N. G. 1., Wednesday evening in response to the special order of Capt, Edelblute. Owing, however, to mis understanding the boys were obliged to meet at Hart's Hall Instead of the Fraternal Hall as was intended. The greater part of the boxful of khaki uniforms was distributed and the com pany was drilled in double rank by Major McCall, the boys presenting a soldierly appearance In their natty suits and compaign hats. With the material at hand Company E can un doubtedly be made the best company of the regiment, and the men have the spirit which makes good soldiers. The election for 1st lieutenant result ed in the choice of James A. Foster. The next drill will take place in Fra ternal Hall Dec. 23, when the balance of the accoutrements will be distrib uted, including the guns which are on the road. The Funny Folks comedy company of Btonson & Chenoweth, consisting of rtlue persous, have given the best plays ever witnessed in Rathdrum. Large audiences have greeted them the past two nights. ATter tonight they go to Hope, where they will play Dee. 5, 7, and S. Ramsey Rambles. Chas. Tlndal made a flying trip to Spokane last Tuesday. Several of our young people took in the Masquerade Ball, at Rathdrum, and reporta very tnjoyable time. Frank Tripp made a business trip to Spokane last Thursday, returning Friday. Ben Nelson, of Lewiston, spent Thanksgiving with his brother-in-law Frank Tripp. Miss Nelle J. Wells returnad, Mon day. from a visit with friends near Spangle, Wash. Jas. Ware has been quite sick for the past few days, but is now able to be around again. Our Socialists held a meeting of the Local at the schoolhouse, last Tuesday evening. Much Important business was transacted, and the 1st. and 3rd. Thursday evenings were ap pointed the meeting nights. There was a very large attendance at the meeting of the Literary Society last Saturday. A One program was rendered and preparations made to have a big Entertainment and Xmas Tree for the benefit of the children of the district, on Xmas eve. ,Tbere Is an exceptionally big program for next meeting, Saturday, Dec. 5. Gee Furr and Prof. Johnsing, are working on the old Crandall place. .80 .00 .5 of a a Emile Laux has been taking steps to lease a strip of ground north of the railroad track on which to erect a grain warehouse. . Obstacles, earning the site, however, will bahly delay the work until spring. A grain elevator may be added If found to be feasible. Mr. Laux is a son-in-law of Louis Lucke, and Is the gentleman whose wife died in Spo kane and was buried here about two months ago. The curtains and scenery, purchas ed by the Fraternal Hall association for the opera stage has been recieved from Chicago. They were put up this week.
