Walker, while on bis way to the coast. W. F. Fehlhabur reports catching nearly 100 fine, trout in Pend d'breille lake while thereon a fishing excursion last week. For all kinds of s'ove lining, sheet, metal and tank work call at the Rathdrum Iron Works, Ratbdrum, 06-13 Henry Boynton, who is engaged on a grading contract in Spokane, was home over Sunday. Mr. Boynton bad the misfortune recently to lose one of his draft horses of the team be bad for several years. Captain Clement Wilkins and Lieu tenant Hal Shadduck, national guard officers of Coeur d'Alene, were guests of Colonel W. H. Edelblute laBt Sun day. tf. Idaho. Floyd McNett went to Walla Walla, Wash., last Saturday to visit bis sister, who reside there. Thence he will proceed to Boise next week as a member of the Company E rifle team. W. H. Stoutenburg a ad family vacated the Morris faun south of town Monday and moved to the II. M. Stoutenburg place east of town, where they will reside In the future. W. L. Northway started his steam saw this week, cutting the wood which he has delivered In parts of town the past summer. Mr. Northway Is also completing the de livery of 100 cords of wood for the school. F. L. Runyon and family, who have farmed the H. M. Stoutenburg place east of town the past year more, have moved to their own place a half mile farther east. Mr. Runyon contemplates building a new house there in the near future. various or Surprise Party. A surprise party in honor of Miss Bernice Lewis the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Quarles last Friday night, on the eve of the young lady's departure tor her home at Lewiston. The guests amused themselves with various games, and refreshments were served. Those present were, Clarice and Mabel Quarles, Belle Wenz, Nevada Callaway, Bernice Lewis, Agnes Bourn, Irma Bobo, Frances Gum, Harry Peters, Peters, Thomas Quarles, Walter Thomas, Francis Young, Frank McCarty, Jay Dyer, Mr. and Mrs. T. Mr. Adams had so far re covered from the recent stroke of paralysis as to tie able to walk a little, but was taken from the train to his home in C. E. McCarly's automobile. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Poleson ar rived Sunday on their return from an enjoyable three weeks' visit to their former home In Ridgeway, Misourl. They were accompalned back to Id i ho by Mrs. Lenna Poison and two children, who have been absent from Rithdrum about a year. ATHOL DEPARTMENT Athol News Notes. Milton Rawlings is taking in the sights In Spokane this week. F. T. Foote was a business caller in Spokane a couple of days last week. Ernest Williams ia attending the Spokane fair this week. Hataldon who has been in Moscow all summer, returned to Athol this week. Mrs. Crandall visited on the r:nr rock several days the past week. Mr. and Mrs Fürst of Sterling were Spokane vis tors the lattir part of the week. Thomas O'Farrel entertained an uncle and a brother from Canada, several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Tiede of Paha, Wash., are visiliog th'-ir sons, John and Gottlieb. Sick headache is caused by a dis ordered stomach. Many Rathdrum people have been attending the Spokane Inter state fair this week. A quantity of Henry lake trout fry were received here this week and were taken to Twin lakes by S. B. McCheyne and planted there. Professor and Mrs. M. G. Everett are quarantined at their home with smallpox in mild form. No fear is entertained of the {disease spreading. ï A check for $457 was received ^Sunday from the Adjutant General for the state pay of the enlisted men of Company E who attended the recent encampment, and I within 24 hours the checks for all those entitled to immediate pay ment were in the postoffice. The Rathdrum State band has discontinued outdoor concerts for the season, the last one being given Thursday evening of last week. In spite of the increasing coolness of the evenings the band was still able to attract a consider able number of music lovers. The total tax levy, general state and county, special school and town, for Rathdrum precinct is now a6.8 mills on each $1.00 of property valuation. Last year the levy was 44 mills on about half the valuation of this year. The board of trustees of Rath drum Independent school district No. 2 met last Monday nighi and fixed the special tax levy for the district at seven mills on the dollar. The present assessed val uation of the district is $050,000. The members of Rathdrum lodge No. 73, I. O. O F. cele brated their tenth anniversary last Friday evening by a social session and games, after the lodge session. A lunch was served. This lodge was instituted in Rathdrum, Sept. 27, 1901. Mr. Parker will assist his brother Laverne in the city market. Henry Dyer visited his daughter, Miss Fay, Wednesday, while on his way to his home in Coeur d'Alene, from Lakevicw, Miss Alice Barry has been suffering from a wounded foot, caused by the accidental discharge of a gun which 1 she held in her hands. The bullet j grazed through her shoe. She has not been able to walk for a week, but is getting along nicely, and expects to be alright in a few more days The Royal Neighbors will give a "Harvest Home" dinner Hallowe'en evening, beginning at five Five cents will be charged for each article of food. The bill of fare will consist of a regular New England dinner—Boston brown bread, baked beans, baked apples, pumpkin pie, doughnuts, beet pickles, jelly and coffee. The hall will be profusely decorated in grains, b'.es and fruits that have been raised on the ranches of the merubeis. At eight o'clock, a program will be given at the home of Mrs. E.
