Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swift of Hillyard.
Wash., and Miss Mabel Locke of Centralia
were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. A.
Berges.
Mrs. D. B. Elder of Amherst, Mass., and
Miss Emma Rose of Fond du Lac. Wie., are
visiting Mrs. Elder's brothers, Curt and
Cbas. Rose.
E. R. Satchwell, Roscoe Satchwcll, John
(ireen, Clarence Feely and others returned
from Priest lake with a good supply of white
fish.

was in town Monday accompanied by State

Chas. O. Sowder, J. W. McCrea and E. N.
Bell, republican county candidates, were In
Kathdrum last Saturday on a tour of the
north end.
Lester A. Harris visited Rathdrum friends
Friday and Saturday while on his return to
McArthur from a business trip by auto to
Colville, Wash.
E. W. Cady and family received word this
week that Mr. Cady's nephew, James Blair of
the army spruce division, had died at Van
couver Barracks of influenza pneumonie.
The young inau's home was in Montana. He
visited In Rathdrum last summer while on
furlough.
M. L. Root, independent candidate for
state senator from Kootenai county, was in
Rathdrum Wednesday. Mr. Root is a pioneer
farmer of Athol and seeks to obtain legisla
tion that will lead to agricultural develop
ment along lines which he says he has advo
cated for the past ten years,
recently finished sowing 100 acres of ills farm
to fall wheat.

their regular meeting Monday.
On Wednesday Dr. Wenz, local
health officer, reported 29 cases of
influenza in Rathdrum and vicinity.
Heavy rains and warm weather are
causing a rapid growth in fall wheat
and grass. Range feed is said to be
flue.
The clocks were turned back last
Sunday, adding one hour more to the

Shirley Hill Dies In Spokane.
Shirley J. Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs.
F. O. Hill, died in Spokane, October
29. The funeral was held Wednesday,
