Present, John Dudley, Chairman, and Fi A. Carter, C. E. Kinney, Commis sioners, and F. J. Clyde, Clerk. In the matter of bridges dam aged or washed away, the Board having at a special meeting held June 19, 1894, ordered notices to be posted according to law in viting bids for the repair or con struction thereof, and such notic es having been duly posted as required, and bids having been filed with the clerk as in such notices required and the time therein stated for opening such bids having arrived the Board ordered them opened, found as follows : Winters, Parsons & Boomer propose to repair three bridges as per plans and specifications on file for $2,500; also to rebuild the bridge below Bayhorse creek as per plans and specifications on file for $2,500. Nick Millich and Con Hurst propose to build the bridge, as plans and specifications filed, for $1,250 of the Bayhorse bridge above named. Robert Layton. Wm. Lutz and j George Morrow propose as per | plans and specifications on file for $675. Chas. Pfeiffer and Rube Jones propose to repair two bridges on j Yankee Fork, one above and one j below the Fox mill per plat for ! $215.63. ; Bids all being opened and | plans and specifications filed— j ordered that those filed by Nick Millich and Con Hnrst be and ! they are hereby accepted and the j contract awarded by their filing ! i : an approved bond. JULY 10. i In the matter of the Bayhorse . bridge Millich & Hurst filed an ' approved bond and contract j awarded them. In the matter of issuing a | duplicate county warrant for No. 268 drawn October 25. 1893 in favor R. A. Pierce for the sum of $95 that was burned in Chal lis fire. Said Pierce having filed a good and sufficient bond to idemnify the county in the sum of $200 therefor. Ordered that said bond be approved and a duplicate of said warrant be is sued and registered the same as was the original. In the matter of warrant No. 28, dated Feb. 2, 1892, drawn in favor of Robert Shilling (Road Fund) for $21, and warrant No. 8, dated June 21, 1893, drawn on the General Fund in favor of S. j H. Kent for the sum of $8. both I of said warrants having been I duly advertised for redemption and the time having expired. Ordered that the Treasurer be authorized to pay the same out of any monies in the respective funds on which they were drawn not otherwise appropriated. In the matter of bids of Wint ers, Parsons & Boomer for bridges, it is ordered that all of the same are rejected; and that the Board endeavor to contract for the repair of the two bridges near Clayton by private contract. In the matter of repair of bridge at the mouth of Squaw creek. And the polling place in Antelope precinct is hereby changed from the Antelope school house to J. B. Hood's house in said precinct, and the polling place in Sunol precinct shall be at the house of W. C. Smith being the same place des ignated in the year 1892, said Smith having purchased the same of Elmer D. In the matter of licenses for the sale of intoxicating liquors. C. S. Jorden & Co., of Challis. Robert Campbell and Kœninger Bros., of Clayton, having filed bonds and made application for the sale thereof in their respec tive places named, and their re spective bonds having been ap proved by the Board it is order ed that the sheriff of Custer county issue licenses therefor and that said bonds be placed on record in the office of the County Recorder. / - , u In the matter of the petition for a new school district to be set apart from school district No. 8, a remonstrance having been filed, and the Superintend ent of Schools having disap proved of said petition and rec ommended that the boundaries of such new district be as he had recommended in his report to Board for the quarter ending July 9, 1894, and after careful consideration of the matter, it is ordered that a new district be set apart from District No. 8, to be known and designated as Dis trict No. 3, with boundaries as follows : Commencing at the Northwest comer of George Fox's ranch and running thence in a direct line to the divide between Thous and Spring Valley and Pahsim ari Valley, where the road be tween said valleys crosses the divide; thence following the di vide between the waters flowing into Lost river and those flowing into Salmon river and East Fork of Salmon river to the line be tween Custer and Alturas coun ties; thence following said line to a point due South of Reed & Davidson's mine; thence in a di rect line from said place of be ginning. In the matter of the petition for a change in School District No. 11. Ordered that the prayer of petitioners be granted and the boundaries as set forth in the petition be entered of record of School District boundaries. JULY 13. JULY 13. Full Board present. In the matter of the bid of C. A. Pfeiffer and Rube Jones for repairing the tw r o bridges on Yankee Fork just above and just below the Fox saw-mill. They having accepted the offer of the Board for such repair. Ordered that the contract be awarded them. Work to be done accord ing to specifications on file for the sum of $200. In the matter of providing wood for the county officers. Or dered that the clerk be required to advertise in The Silver Mes senger in at least two issues prior to August 25,1894, inviting bids for furnishing such wood to the amount of 20 cords of good dry wood, either fir or pine, to be delivered at the various offices where it is to be used. In the matter of providing election supplies for the general election to be held in November next. Ordered that the clerk is hereby directed to provide the same as by law required. JULY 14. Full Board present. Accounts allowed—J. J. Mitch ell's bill returned with a request to file new bill in conformity to fee (bill of the First Session of Legislature approved March 31, 1891). In the matter of A. K. Zeigler's bill filed on General Fund for blanks, etc., furnished by the Smith Printing Company. Or dered that it be rejected—con tract without authority of law. In the matter of witness cer tificate Nos. 14 and 15 for attend ance at the June term of District Court in 1894, for $24 and $21 respectively. On account of sickness the Board adjourned to the 17th. JULY 17. Present—Dudley and Kinney. On application of K. D. Wil liam, etal., to change road Dist. No. 4, at Sturkey Bar. Ordered that permission be granted, pro vided the petitioners build at their own expense such a new road instead as shall be approv ed by the Board before they in any manner interfere with the present road. In the matter of Road warrant No. 5 and 7, dated April 28,1894, drawn in favor B. C. Dunniway as an award of damages for run ning a road through his land which said Dunniway rejected. Ordered that said warrants be declared null and void; and the Treasurer is directed to strike the same from the list of regis tered warrants, and that the same be destroyed by the Board. Nothing being before the Board excepting allowance of bills, adjourned on account of absence of Mr. Carter. JULY 19. JULY Present as of yesterday. In the matter of the bid of Winters, Parsons & Boomer for rebuilding the bridge across Salmon river on the road from Challis to Pahsimari, which was opened July 16, and action de fered on account of disagreement of Chairman Dudley and Com missioner Kinney, Com. Carter being unable to attend, Dudley being in favor and Kinney op posed to granting the contract to Winters & Co. In the matter of Winters, Par sons & Boomer's bid to build the bridge across Salmon river, be tween Challis and Pahsimari— full Board being present. On motion of Kinney, seconed by Carter. Ordered that said bid be rejected, Dudley opposing, and the clerk is hereby instruct ed to advertise in The Silver Messenger in each issue from the present time until August 25, 1894, and that ail bids filed be opened and considered on said day, and in making said bids parties may bid to replace the old bridge or use the material thereof in constructing a new bridge and allow for the value thereof; such value to be apprais ed in such manner as may be agreed upon between the bidder and the Board. Such order be ing made on the vote of Carter and Kinney and opposed by Dudley, he declaring in favor of letting the contract on the bid of Winters & Co. to rebuild the bridge according to their bid. In the matter of providing for a District Court room; office for the Clerk of the District Court and ex-officio Auditor and Re corder, Sheriff and Probate Judge and ex-officio School Sup erintendent. Ordered that a contract be entered into with J. F.
