Frost, the well-know illus trator of rustic types, has just com pleted a series of pictures of "Peo ple We Meet in the Country" for the Ladies' Home Journal. The first of these, "Coming Home for Christ inas," is published in the December number of that magazine. Others are "At the Country Store," "When the Cirous Comes to Town," "At the Railroad Station," "The Town Meeting," etc. Each will be printed in full-page form and will be an interesting feature of. the suc cessive issues of the Journal. The Boer Girl at Home Much has been said of the sturdy, furgal Dutch farmers of the Trans vaal, but little is known of their sweethearts, wives and daughters, who have contributed so largely to the prosperity of the South African Republic. Consequently, an article on "The Boer Girl of South Africa," by the author of "Oom Paul's Peo ple," to appear in the January La dies' Home Journal, will be inter esting, The town of Concord, Qr Vine- ; land, opposite Lewiston, is to be christened With a new name. It will be given à name that is famil iar to all, as belonging to one who braved the \vild6 of the unknown west, and whoj with his ccrrnpap- i ion. Lewis blazed thp way to settle ment and civilization: «Cohcort} will ; on the first of ' January take the ; name of the fearless explorer., and will be known as ClarkstoSr*': Persuaded to copie tp Qo^tetA^ wood. A large number ofuj^izene have heqn bringing pressure to heàr all summer upon pr. Green of Orangeville to visit Cottohwood, but bo fai has flatly refused owing to his large practice in Grangeville where he keeps two' iben busy all the time. Last week some our citi zens waited upon him in peisqn, and after much persuasion §ueceded in gaining his consent to make a short yisif to Cottonwood this fall. The Dr., tells us that hig trip must necessarily be brief as the Grangeville populace and eurrouud- j ing fcpmmunity demand his entire attention. We who häye Uied so hard to get the Df., hete tyill take advantage of this oppoitunity to show our appreciation of his favor and endeavor to force upon him the impression that Cottonwood deserves more of his time and we may be able to get him to come offener. Perhapp when the railrpad comes to Cottonwood and Grange yille becomes a suburd that we will be blessed with the Dr., and his family perpaänehtly. EASILY DIGESTED FOOD. Toasting bread until it becomes brpwn largely converts the starch into dextrin; and hence, so far ag the brown poptiop is concerned, one j of the processes of digestion ia gone j through before the bread is taken into the stomach. It will he found that the thinner the slices of bread, ; and the more thoroughly they are toasted, ths easier digestion will be, apd when all portions of the slice o£ bread are thoroughly toasted '-not burned, but still changed to a deep I brown color-—it will be found to he Still more easily digested. Iron Tonie In Many Vege : tables. An eminent physician claims that mayy vegetables supply the iron 1 that is the basis of most nonics in g much more effective form, Spin ach, apples, beans, peas, strawber ries, potatoes, beets and currants, all contain the mineral without the admixtures that make so many menicines harmful. Stewed black currants eaten daily through their season will cure anaemia, and pota to«» are a specific for scurvy, Upon urgent request I have con sented to come to Cottonwood from December 4th, to 15th, inclusive and the demands of my home office are such as to be positively unable to remain any longer. I come fully prepared to do all kinds of dental work, those desiring work done should call the first days of my visit and set dates as I have con siderable work already spoken for and the first come first served.
