Jewell, State Representative from this county, has introduced a bill which will be a good thing. An act re quiring incorporated cities and towns to publish the acts and proceedings of the board of aldermen and city and town councils. The public usually ex pects and demands publicity. Many councils have heretofore withheld pub lication of council proceedings, on the ground that there is no law making any provision for paying for such publica tion. The bill if passed makes the publication mandatory in two or more papers published in the town, if only one paper in town, then in one news paper, and if there is no paper in the town, then by posting in two or more public places.
