'MHIson raid, ns no quorum was present to take a vote on the question of laving on the table the resolution offered by Mr. hidings. he would propose that the House go into committee, with the tew of taking up the l'acilic Ruilroad Hill, and thereby taw one day, wntch wan aprred to. Mr. Chnstnin fnolt the floor, nnd pro eeedrd to show the time hnd arrived, when the grand interests of this country demanded thai Cuba should change hands. This, he contended, is demand ed l-y our social as well as our political interest. He had no doubt that this would be dissented Irom, as opposition I was made to the ac(jui*ijion of Loutsi nna, Florida, California, and the annex* lion of Texas but the wisdom of those measures are now generally acknowl edged, having resulted in a great bene til lo our common country. He then stated the reason* why we should urge negotiations at the earliest j^day possible, as the liberation ol the slaves on that island would interfere with the domestic institution!! of the South. fp:iin must veld, and France ami En gland must submit. If Npain should *|e fuse a liberal compensation, she must abide the consequences, as it is our n# efssity demands she shall make the sac r.fice, which will redound to our pros peritv, and to the happine«s of the hu man family. We should take measures i fnr the purchase of the Island without Ijelay, and call on .Spain »o name her Ihms. If she wiM not do so, ho would go for in undisguised open war lo take the island. Mr. Letcher moved to strike out the touting clause of the Pacific It* 11 road hill, which motion wns lost. Mr. Caruthers asked and obtained leave to print a speech in fivor of grant il'g 'and for railway purposes, and ced-j the public lands to the States in which they lie. Mr. Cutting, from the Committee on Judicial), reported adversely on a large of petitions lor the abolition of fdavery and the Fugitive Slave Law and they were alt laid oil the table. Cerriti Smith offered an amendment providing that the Post Oiilce Deparl ttient be abolished at the end of two ^vears, and leave the matter of conveying the mails to prtvdte enterprise, when it would be (lone better and cheaper. Mr. Singleton, severely commented upon the course of Mr. Fillmore for hav ing submitted to Spain, relative to Cuba affairs. He spoke of various outrages committed by Spain against us, and ad vocated the demand of instant indemnity for the outrages and assurances that the like should not be repeated. Should Spain refuse, he was in favor of bring ing all the power of the United States to blockade the Island, and take possess ion of it. Mr. Latham spoke on the same sub ject. He was opposed to acquiring Cu ba by an unjust war. We should not resort to force if there was a way to avert it. If Spain attempted to lay the island waste to spite us, and make it a nuisance, because we desire the acquisi tion, let us enter coor plaints and abate the »ui«ance. Mr. Cobb was in favor of Cuba com ing in as a ripe apple from the tree. He entered his solemn protest against this government, or individuals, engaging in unlawful expeditions to seize the Island. After other unimportant business, the House adjourned. Correspondence of the N. Y. Tribune. Fraud in the Nebraska Bill. WASHINGTON June 13. An astounding fraud has just been discovered by Messrs. Campbell, of O., Benton, Mace, and others, in the Ne braska Bill. It seeins thatMr. Richard son stated to the House that his substitute was the Senate Bill simply, without the Clayton Proviso, when, in fact, he had inserted a clause providing that no per sons other than the citizen* of the Uni ted States should hold ottice or vote until they had sworn to support the principles of this bill. It also provided for con tinuing in force all laws locally applica ble. This includes the act of 1824, ex cluding from said territories all foreign ers, on penalty of a thousand dollars, without a passport from the War Depart ment, limiting the time he shall remain, and route of travel. Mr. Mace will introduce a bill amend ing and explaining the Nebraska act, and Messrs. Benton, Campbell, and other.", will uke the floor in denunciation oi tim fraud thus imposed on the country. Its boundary is thrpe thousand nules in length, its area five hundred thousand square miles, and it will form twelve states each as large as Ohio.
