There is dancing of al most every variety. The matinees this season, as here tofore at the Tulane, will be every Vednesday and Saturday at 2 o'clock. ALHAMRR.% GYMNASTIC CLUB NOTES. The Alhambra Gymnastic Club the last few weeks presents a lively ap pearance. The boys of the town are not slow to learn where they can spend their evenings enjoying and at the same time benefiting themselves. With a well equipped gymnasium and a swimming tank, the club is well prepared to make good and strong athletes of its members, as results have shown in the past. The Indoor Ball team were de feated last Wednesday, but only af ter a hard struggle. The Holy Names had to put forward their best efforts to overcome our boys. The boys are practising for the Herald meet on Thanksgiving Day. They are going to repeat the record made last year, they claim and are hustling nightly to get in shape for the event. AMATEUlR BASEBALL LEAGUE. The Algiers Stars won their first game in the Amateur Baseball League, defeating the "Yekes Sr." 4 to 3. at McDonoghvllle Park last Sunday. STONE BEING PLACED A large stone is now being placed in the old Olivier Cemetery upon which is Inscribed Bartholemew-Du verje Place. The stone measures about 4 feet in each direction. It is hewn out of granite and is left in a rough state. It will be an appropri ate monument for the Bartholemew DuverJe Place. LEAVES FOR TEXAS Mr. W. M. Huff, who formerly re sided on Vallette street, left for a ninety days' tour In Texas and he will make his head quarters at Beeville, Texas. He will later on make a trip to the Pacific coast where he exepects to remain for three months longer. Mr. Huff stated that he did not know positive whether he will return to Al giers again. Mir. Huff leaves many good friends here who wish him well in his future days. The many friends of Mrs. J. How ers of Opelousas avenue, will sympa thize with her in the loss of her sis ter. Mrs. R. Norton of New Orleans, who died September 27. She was twenty-seven years old and leaves a father, a mother, one brother and five sisters to mourn her death. Mrs. Norton's death was a shock to the family and her many friends. Mrs. W. A. Nelson returned Fri day from Morgan City. La. Mrs. W. A. Dilzell and little son Walter left last week for Greenville, Ill., to spend a month. Misses Rosabelle and Sadie Gar land were among the guests at a linen shower given by the "Maids of Mirth" in honor of Miss Dorothea Kruse. Judge Thomas F. Goff. popular recorder of the Third Recorder's Court, has returned to his post in Algiers after serving for several months in the Second Recorder's court. Rev. J. P.
