James Welsh. negro, who shot and killed his wife, ('ora Welsh, at 323 DeArmas street, on Aug. 12, 1912, and has been at large even since, is in custody in Lafayette, La., and will be brought to this city for trial. Liizzle Williams. alias Jennie Brown. negress, was arrested by Cor poral Moran and Patrolman Hyde on Information f~urnished by Sophie Alexander, another negress. The woman is charged with being a fugi tive from justice. She stabbed ano bit a white man at Riverview, Tex., several months ago, the latter hav ing died as a result, it is said. Isaac Randell, a negro youth, was arrested Saturday night by Patrolmen Jenkins and Hoffman and charged with being dangerous and suspicious, pend ing investigation of the theft of cop per wire valued at $10 from the Al giers Iron Works, some time -ago. In night court, he was fined $20 with the alternative of 20 days in jail, and nine daye additional in default of fine. Frank Sherlock, supreme agent of the Knights of Columbus, lectured be fore the members of Santa Maria Council, Tuesday night at a special meeting at the "Home" in Olivier St., corner of Alix. Many memebers were present. Refreshments were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Jno. T. Koester were agreeably surprised on Friday night by a number of their friends the oc casion being the thirty-fifth anniver sary of their marriage. The evening was a most enjoyable one. Miss Eola Abbott has taken charge of the Beauregard playgrounds until the opening of the Aleiers playground. The Beauregard will have their ded ication on the second Sunday in Feb ruary. Mrs. W. ii. Hebert was taken to the Hotel I)ieu where she underwent an operation yesterday. The operation was performed by Dr. A. C. King. The many friends of Mrs. Leonard Santos. Eross has the sympathy of his many friends in the loss of his sister, Miss Marion Eross. whose death occurred Saturday at San An tonio, Tex. Mrs. Amelia Smith. grand guardian of the Woodmen Circle had the honor of installing the officers of Willow branch and Emma B. Manchester Groves on Sunday. She also installed the officers of Palmetto Grove on the 11th. She was the recipient of sev aral beautiful bouquets of flowers. The members of Sts. John Chapter No. 35, O. E. S. are invited to attend the regular meeting on Monday the 22 as a big surprise is in store for them. DIED. Minvlelle.-On Wednesday. Jan. 10. at 5 o'clock p. m. ouise tin vielle, daughter of the late Bridget Lally and Pierre Minvielle, died at the age of fifty-five years. Deceased was a native of New Orleans and had lived in Algiers for 43 years. She leaves one brother and one sister, besides a number of other relatives and many friends who deplore her demise. The funeral took place at 9 o'clock Friday morning from her late residence, 928 Opelousas ave sue. Very Rev. T. J. Larkin, S. M., offieiated and interment was made In St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. O'Keeffe.---On Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 11:30 o'clock p. m. Mrs. Hugh A. J'Keeffe died after an illness of a few weeks. Deceased, who was Miss Caroline Louisa House before her marriage. was born in Plaque mines parish twenty-nine years ago, but had resided here for the past sixteen years. The funeral took place Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock from her late residence, 436 Pacific Ave. Interment was in St. Bartlot omew Cetntery. Bloom.--On Thursday, Jan. 11, at 7:40 o'clock p. m. Frank E. Bloom died at the age of fourteen years. Deceases was the son or Ellen McGraw and the late August Bloom. The funeral took place Sat urday afternoon at 3 o'clock from his mother's residence, 1001 Belle ville St. Rev. A. J. Petit officiated. Interment was in St. Mary's Ceme tery. Gallotte.--On Friday, Jan. 12, at 11:40 o'clock a. m. Ezilda Bernard, wife of ex-Mayor J V. OGullott, died. Deceased was a native of Algiers, but had resided in the city for many years.
